Sales & Service Representative

Prairie State/Select Sires, Inc. is seeking a Sales & Service Representative to provide direct herd service to dairy and beef customers in East Central Iowa. This person will be responsible for sales, service and territory development within the area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide sales and service expertise to direct service customers in the given territory.
  • Provide A.I. support through synchronization programs with a heavy emphasis on beef A.I.
  • Promote and sell the programs and product lines of the organization. Includes both semen and non-semen products.
  • Assist customers with profit driven decisions to aid in meeting their individual operational goals.
  • Assist with the coordination of A.I. Training schools in the territory.
  • Coordinate and assist with the organization’s presence at dairy and beef events, activities, expos and field days.
  • Work closely with key influencers to strengthen our relationships in key accounts.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Obtained Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or equivalent field experience with preference given to candidates with a strong cattle industry emphasis or background.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in the dairy and/or beef industry.
  • Must be highly skilled in bovine artificial insemination.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Self-starter, capable of prioritizing a wide variety of tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft® Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Organized, and able to plan and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willing to travel (~ 35%).
  • Clean driving record.

A.I. Technician

Prairie State/Select Sires is seeking an A.I. Technician to join its team in Southern Illinois. This position provides the opportunity to work with dairy and beef producers to enhance and improve the profitability of their operations through genetic and reproductive expertise. Duties include gaining experience in areas such as:

  • Large herd tail chalking, heat detection and A.I. services
  • Extensive exposure to reproductive physiology and synchronization
  • Record analysis and reproductive consultation services
  • Training with our automated herd monitoring systems
  • Select Reproductive Solutions (SRS) portfolio offered by Select Sires
  • Select Mating Services (SMS) program and genetic training offered by Select Sires

Ideal candidates for this career should have a strong agricultural background including:

  • Dairy and/or beef focus
  • Outstanding people skills and be service-orientated
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work on your own as well as in a team structure
  • A.I. experience and knowledge of on-farm software is preferred, but not mandatory

Livestock Technician

Prairie State/Select Sires, Inc. is seeking a Livestock Technician. Work schedules are Monday – Friday with some weekend work. All work schedules are subject to change to meet departmental needs. Candidate must be self-directed, detail-oriented, and organized.

Hampshire, Illinois Production Facility — Reports to Logan Ridge, Manager of Production Operations Livestock Technician duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing complete care of bulls and animals to include reporting health and condition, assisting with feeding and stall management
  • Bull handling for semen collection
  • Stall cleaning, feeding, any and all related barn chores
  • Other tasks as assigned
