Joe Myers Joins Select Sires' Beef Team
PLAIN CITY, Ohio Jan. 21, 2011 - Select Sires Inc. announces the addition of Joe Myers as beef genetics consultant. In this part-time role, Myers will assist the Select Sires beef department in beef sire selection, especially in the late winter and spring when he will evaluate pedigrees and travel to bull sales to assist in bull acquisition decisions. Myers will be based out of his home in Harrodsburg, Ky.
"I first met Joe Myers almost 10 years ago and I am elated that he will be working with the beef team in the Select Sires federation to help us identify the most elite young sire prospects," said Aaron Arnett, vice president of beef genetics.
Myers earned a bachelor of science in agriculture and masters of agricultural education from the University of Kentucky. He began his career in the Angus industry 26 years ago as a manager of a 400-acre Angus farm in Kentucky and later became an agriculture teacher and FFA advisor. Most recently, Myers was the general manager of the newly dispersed Anderson Circle Farm, one of the nation's premier Angus operations. As manager, Myers developed an understanding of the Angus breed and a network of contacts, and was honored for his accomplishments as the Manager of the Year of 2010 by the All American Angus Breeder Futurity.
