New Graduates Contribute to Breed-Leading, High-Component Lineup at Select Sires

PLAIN CITY, Ohio, April 14, 2010 — Select Sires released four new graduates in the Jersey breed and one Guernsey sire following the April 2010 genetic evaluations. In addition, Select's high-component breed sires continue to rank as breed-leaders that perform well in components, milk yield, type and more.

ECLIPES-P: Customer Satisfaction is in the Family
7JE860 Maack Dairy ECLIPES-P-ET is sired by the customer satisfaction king himself, 7JE590 Forest Glen Avery ACTION-ET. ECLIPES-P will likely follow in his father's footsteps as he combines high components (+.03%P, +28 Protein, +.11%F and +48 Fat), strong health traits (+2.9 Productive Life, PL, and 2.85 Somatic Cell Score, SCS), elite Type (+1.8) and the polled gene to produce a profitable cow that dairy producers desire. He debuts as the No. 8 Jersey sire for Jersey Performance Index™ (GJPI™) at +154 and is the breed's highest JPI-ranking polled bull. ECLIPES-P produces daughters with tremendous rear udders and has a remarkable Jersey Udder Index™ (JUI™) of +5.26. Not only does ECLIPES-P have strong genetics on the top of his pedigree he is also backed by superior genetics on his maternal side. Jersey Graduates Excel
7JE1100 Cave Creek KANOO-ET enters Select Sires lineup as a Herdlife Builder™ that improves longevity (+3.4 PL) and offers a positive Daughter Pregnancy Rate (+1.4 DPR). KANOO ranks 11th for JPI at +145 GJPI, and is built for high production (+727 Milk). This ISDK Q Impuls son offers a low Genomic Estimate of Future Inbreeding (GFI) value of 3.6, giving him the ability to be used on a wide section of the Jersey population. KANOO is out of an Excellent-90% dam with two records over 27,500 pounds of milk, 5.5% Fat and 3.3% Protein.

New graduate 7JE847 JBC Rebel BOOMHOWER offers a unique pedigree, O.F. Mannix Rebel-ET x 7JE472 BW PARADE-ET, that provides production and type. He transmits exceptional milk yields (+910 Milk) and high, wide rear udders with tremendous udder cleft (+2.52 JUI).

Get Out Your Show Whites: GOVERNOR Sires Winners
Showcase Selections™ sire 7JE867 Griffens GOVERNOR-ET has been siring attention grabbing offspring for the show ring around the world. His daughters exhibit youthful udders, superb fore udders and high rear udders, with teats placed centrally beneath the quarters. With the April sire evaluations, Select Sires announced that Danish Jersey sires are now available in the U.S. through local Select Sires representatives. These feature JPI standouts 236JE146 ISDK DJ ZUMA (+182 JPI-M.), 228JE143 ISDK DJ INDICA (+168 JPI-M), 236JE3 ISDK Q IMPULS (+163 GJPI), and 236JE145 ISDK DJ JANTE (+148 JPI-M). Along with serving as profit-makers through their component-rich milk, these four sires are designated as FeedPRO™ sires and will produce daughters that can positively impact a dairy producer's bottom line. The FeedPRO designation is an index that predicts greater income over feed costs.

7GU417 Sniders Tiller ALTANIC joins the Select Sires lineup as an elite PTI (+132) and high Type (+1.5) sire, following in the path of his maternal brothers, 7GU395 Sniders Option AARON-ET and 7GU398 Sniders Ronalds ALSTAR. Sired by the breed's highest type improver, 7GU360 Trotacre Loral TILLER-ET, and out of three-time National Grand Champion, Cedar Fringed Altann (EX-95-EX-95-MS-GSD), ALTANIC is sure to be popular with Guernsey breeders who like to show. His daughters have a nice combination of strength and dairy character with good width from end to end. Superior feet and legs (+3.1 FLC) are a trademark of the ALTANIC daughters along with well-attached udders in both the fore and rear. Not just to be labeled as a type specialist, ALTANIC ranks as the breed's highest milk sire (+1,267 Milk).

Guernsey Breed Leaders
Select Sires dominates the Guernsey Active A.I. List for PTI with four of the top five sires. ALTANIC's maternal brothers, 7GU395 AARON and 7GU398 ALSTAR, continue to lead Select's strong Guernsey lineup. AARON ranks No. 1 for PTI (+167 PTI-M). He transmits solid production (+785 Milk) with exceptional Type (+1.1). ALSTAR is No. 2 for PTI (+160 PTI) and Milk (+1,105). His high Net Merit Dollar value of +$504 ranks him as the leader in the breed and he excels in outstanding fitness traits (+1.9 DPR and +5.1 PL). AARON and ALSTAR are both FeedPRO sires.

Brown Swiss Highlights
Showcase Selections sire 7BS779 Brothers Three PARKER ET defines Type at +1.0, as the No. 1 sire in the breed. PARKER also has an impressive Udder Composite of +1.00. 7BS766 Blessing Banker AGENDA ET continues to excel in component percents (+0.16%F and +.07%P). As the sire of All-American heifers in 2009, AGENDA is also available in gender SELECTed semen.

Ayrshire and Milking Shorthorns Lead Their Breeds
7AY77 Galney-EPC Galant RAMIUS and 7AY84 Palmyra Tri-Star BURDETTE-ET rank first and second in the Ayrshire breed for Type, respectively. RAMIUS leads the breed at +1.4 Type. January graduate, BURDETTE-ET (+1.2 Type) ranks as the No. 3 sire for PTI at +90 and has a Net Merit value of +$291.

Leading the Milking Shorthorn breed for PPR is 7MS343 Gold Mine Frost KOURT at +66 PPR. This profitable sire with limited semen available is ranked No. 1 in the breed for Net Merit dollar value at +$275 NM, Productive Life at +4.5 PL and Daughter Pregnancy Rate at +1.8.
