Leading A.I. Organization Names VerBeek Sire Analyst


Rick VerBeekPLAIN CITY, Ohio, Oct. 25, 2000 - Select Sires, Inc. has announced the promotion of Rick VerBeek to the position of dairy sire analyst. In this role he is helping manage the federation's active participation in Holstein Associations USA's SET (Sire Evaluation for Type) program nationally, and will handle the procurement of Holstein and Jersey sires in New York and New England. He also will coordinate domestic tours that enable international visitors to view daughters of Select sires, while working from the company's satellite office in Tunkhannock, Pa.

Most recently, VerBeek served as the sire programs manager for Sire Power, Tunkhannock, Pa., coordinating its computer mating program (LAMP) and managing the cooperative's involvement with the Holstein Association's SET program. He joined Sire Power in 1990 after earning his bachelor's degree in animal science from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Mich.
