Two Herds Combine To Produce Outstanding Young Sire

PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Nov. 2, 2000 - 9AY80 Palmyra Reno's BATTLE-ET, a young Ayrshire sire bred by Mark Allen Creek, Hagerstown, Md., has been chosen to enter Select Sires' Program for Genetic Advancement (PGA) sire sampling system. Based on his outstanding pedigree, Battle has been selected as one of several Ayrshire bulls from throughout the United States to enter the program in 2000. In addition to being sampled through PGA Cooperator herds, this young sire has been identified as a Super Sampler. With this designation, his semen is available to all interested Ayrshire breeders.

Battle's pedigree brings together two outstanding herds in the Ayrshire breed, Palmyra Farms and Covey Farms. His sire, Covey-Farms Reno, produces offspring that have tremendous frames. His dam, Palmyra C. Blush (VG-85), is known for her high production. At five years and ten months, she produced in 365 days 31,320 pounds of milk, 1,257 pounds of fat and 1,076 pounds of protein.

Select Sires is a federation of 10 farmer-owned and controlled cooperatives. It provides excellence in sires, service and programs to achieve its basic objective of supplying livestock breeders with America's best genetics at a reasonable price.
