Wisconsin Student Named Intern at Leading U.S. A.I. Organization


PLAIN CITY, Ohio, June 18, 2001 — Kylene Cook, Fort Atkinson, Wis., has been selected as the corporate communications summer intern for Select Sires, Plain City, Ohio. In this role she will develop the 2002 breeding calendar for customers, assist with media-relations activities and work on other communications projects. From June through August she will be based in the Select federation’s headquarters office in Plain City.

Cook recently completed her junior year at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wis., while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in dairy science and agriculture journalism. She is treasurer of the Association of Women in Agriculture (AWA) and the American Dairy Science Association (ADSA) representative for the Badger Dairy Club. Cook is also a member of the university’s dairy judging team and Collegiate FFA.

Cook is the daughter of Alan and Rhonda Cook of Fort Atkinson, Wis., who own and operate Rocky Lane Farms with a herd of 50 registered Holstein cows. In May she was named a national distinguished junior member finalist of Holstein Association USA, Brattleboro, Vt. In addition, she actively has shown Holstein cattle at the local and state levels.

Based in Plain City, Ohio, Select Sires, Inc. is a federation of 10 farmer-owned and controlled cooperatives.
