The World's source for Bovine Genetics
New Dairy Sire Evaluations
Available Quickly on Web Site

PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Aug. 6, 2001 — Dairy producers who are looking for a quick, convenient way to obtain accurate production and type results from the quarterly dairy sire evaluations issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Interbull and breed associations on Aug. 13 now can turn to a single source — www.selectsires.com. By 9 p.m. (EDT) on Monday, Aug. 13, this Web site will carry the latest production and type data for all dairy breeds represented in the Select Sires lineup. At that time, the site also will contain new type composite information for Select’s Holstein lineup as well as pictures showing daughters of many sires.

"On Aug. 13 more sires than ever before will receive multiple-trait across-country evaluations (MACE) for type and production, with this information provided to A.I. organizations throughout the day," says Blaine Crosser, vice president, dairy sire product line, Select Sires. "Rather than releasing preliminary U.S.-only proof information early in the day, Select Sires uses Internet technology to provide complete and accurate sire evaluations once we receive it from all official sources. Producers will find this comprehensive data on www.selectsires.com by Monday evening."

By Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 15, www.selectsires.com also will offer a complete online sire directory for each dairy breed in English. Virtual sire directories in Portuguese and Spanish languages will be available by Friday, Aug. 17. One virtual directory feature enables producers to easily sort the sires by milk, protein, type and production-type index (PTI). Convenient links allow them to look at detailed information on each sire, including his proof, linear type data and photograph. In addition, many individual pages show pictures of daughters.

All of the information on www.selectsires.com is available free to producers and others who are interested in obtaining up-to-date data about leading dairy sires.

Select Sires is a federation of 10 farmer-owned and controlled cooperatives. It provides excellence in sires, service and programs to achieve its basic objective of supplying livestock breeders with America’s best genetics at a reasonable price.
