Three Summer Internships Available for Dairy and Beef Students
PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Sept. 14, 2001
— Select Sires Inc. has announced plans to offer three summer internships at its headquarters facility in Plain City, Ohio, during the summer of 2002. Positions are available within the beef-sire, dairy-sire and corporate-communications departments, with applications due before Dec. 1, 2001.
"The opportunity to establish a working relationship with potential future employees is one of the many reasons Select Sires offers internships to young men and women throughout the United States," says Terri Smith, corporate communications coordinator. "Many of those who have held internships with Select Sires or one of its 10 member cooperatives have become Select Sires employees after graduation."
College students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in dairy science, animal science, agricultural economics, agricultural communications or related agricultural fields may apply for these internships. Applicants must be familiar with cattle pedigree information. Previous judging-team experience is an advantage. While important for all internships, strong writing and computer skills are a requirement for students working in communications. Sire-department interns must have experience working with cattle, and the ability to clip and prepare animals for still or video photography.
While in-person interviews are not required, Select Sires representatives will conduct interviews during the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wis., from Oct. 3 to 7, and the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Ky., from Nov. 3 to 16. For more information about these internships or to submit a resume for consideration, send an e-mail message to info-line@selectsires.com or a fax to Terri Smith at (614) 873-5751.
Based in Plain City, Ohio, Select Sires Inc., is a federation of 10 farmer-owned and controlled cooperatives. It provides highly fertile semen as well as excellence in service and programs to achieve its basic objective of supplying livestock breeders with America’s best genetics at a reasonable price.
