Ohio State Student Named Intern at Leading U.S. A.I. Organization


PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Sept. 14, 2001 — Emily Stammen, New Weston, Ohio, has been selected as the corporate communications intern for Select Sires, Plain City, Ohio. In this role she will assist with media-relations activities and work on other communications projects. From September through June she will be based in the Select federation’s headquarters office in Plain City.

Stammen is in her third year at The Ohio State University (OSU), Columbus, Ohio, majoring in animal sciences with a minor in agribusiness and applied economics. A member of the university’s Buckeye Dairy Club, she is corresponding secretary, recruitment co-chairman, 2002 Buckeye Classic Sale co-chairman and a committee member for the February 2002 American Dairy Science Association (ADSA) regional meeting. In addition, she will assist with the 2001 Buckeye Royal and the milkshake booth at the Farm Science Review. Stammen is a member of the university’s dairy judging team that will compete at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wis., and serves as the 2001 Ohio Holstein Queen.

Stammen is the daughter of Terry and Marcia Stammen of New Weston, Ohio, who own and operate a 100-cow dairy operation, Wabash-Way Holsteins. She has shown Holstein cattle at the local, state and national levels.

Based in Plain City, Ohio, Select Sires Inc. is a federation of 10 farm-owned and controlled cooperatives.
