Two Holstein Young Sires from
Iowa to Enter A.I.

LAIN CITY, Ohio, April 22, 2002 — Two Holstein young sires - 7HO7173 Terrick Emerson ROLEX-ET*TV,TL, bred by Terry Eick, Plainfield, Iowa, and 7HO7183 Far-O-La Mar SABLE Shawn-ET*TV, bred by Tom Simon and Rick Demmer, Farley, Iowa - have been chosen to enter Select Sires’ Program for Genetic Advancement™ (PGA™) sire-sampling system. Based on their outstanding pedigrees, ROLEX and SABLE are two of 300 Holstein bulls to enter the program in 2002. In addition to being sampled through PGA cooperator herds, these young sires have been identified as SUPER SAMPLERS™. With this designation, their semen is available to all Holstein breeders.

ROLEX is a 7HO6250 Ricecrest EMERSON-ET son out of Terrick Emory Ribbon. This Very Good (88) 7HO3948 MJR Blackstar EMORY-ET daughter produced 2-0 365d 45,390M 3.5% 1,602F 2.9% 1,304. This 2-year-old production record ranks Ribbon first in Iowa for milk and protein production. ROLEX’s second dam is Terrick Ares Randi. This Excellent (90-EX-MS) Gold Medal Dam (GMD) and Dam of Merit (DOM) is also an Iowa class leader for milk and protein production. Her winning production record is 6-6 365d 48,890M 3.7% 1,807F 2.9% 1,396P.

SABLE is sired by 7HO5375 Mara-Thon BW MARSHALL-ET. His dam is Far-O-La Win Sable-ET, a Very Good (86-EX-MS) daughter of 7HO4637 Ladys-Manor WINCHESTER-ET. Her 2-year-old production record, still in progress, is 2-6 306d 33,502M 4.2% 1,416F 2.9% 969P. The next dam is a Very Good (88-EX-MS), DOM, 9HO1729 Brabant Star PATRON-ET daughter that produced more than 35,000 pounds of milk, 1,400 pounds of fat and 1,100 pounds of protein as a 2-year-old.
