Leading A.I. Organization Names Mergler Herd-Management Product Vice President

PLAIN CITY, Ohio, May 21, 2002 — Select Sires Inc. has announced the appointment of Joel Mergler to the newly created position of vice president, training and herd-management products. In this role Mergler will coordinate marketing activities for the federation's broad portfolio of herd-management products that includes reproductive supplies, udder-care products and nutritional supplements. In addition, he will continue to manage the organization's sales training and development activities while based at Select Sires' headquarters in Plain City, Ohio.

Most recently Mergler served as vice president, personnel training and development for Select Sires. During 12 years in this position he developed employee-training programs, and assisted Select's member cooperatives and international marketing teams in their expansion of reproductive-management services at the local level. Before that he gained more than a decade of experience as an A.I. technician, area sales manager and A.I. training specialist with East Central/Select Sires, Waupun, Wis. A native of Dayton, Ohio, Mergler is enrolled in advanced-study coursework in marketing at Ohio University, Athens, Ohio.

Based in Plain City, Ohio, Select Sires Inc. is a federation of 10 farmer-owned and controlled cooperatives. It provides highly fertile semen as well as excellence in service and programs to achieve its basic objective of supplying livestock breeders with America's best genetics at a reasonable price.
