by Willis Gunst, Greenleaf, Wis., has been chosen to enter Select Sires’
Program for Genetic Advancement™ (PGA™) sire-sampling system. Based on his
outstanding pedigrees, ALTER-RED is one of 300 Holstein bulls to enter the
program in 2002. In addition to being sampled through PGA cooperator herds,
this young sire has been identified as a SUPER SAMPLER™. With this
designation, his semen is available to all Holstein breeders.
ALTER-RED is a STBVQ RUBENS-ET son. His dam, Wilstar-RS LDR Angel-Red-ET,
Excellent (91-2E), produced 4-7 365d 36,810M 4.4% 1,613F 2.9% 1,083P.
His second dam, Dreamstreet Enhancer Alicia, Excellent (94-3E), Gold Medal
Dam (GMD) and Dam of Merit (DOM), produced 10-6 365d 32,240M 4.4% 1,410F
2.9% 938P. She also had a lifetime production of 3,382d 219,430M 4.4%
9,714F 3.0% 6,478P. The next five generations are all Excellent, which
completes seven generations of Excellent dams.
