Leading A.I. Organization Adds
.coop Web Site Address

PLAIN CITY, Ohio, June 29, 2002 — Dairy and beef producers, veterinarians and others now can access the Web site of North America’s leading A.I. organization using the Internet address: www.selectsires.coop. The .coop suffix recently was made available for use exclusively by cooperatives and co-op support organizations.

"Now people can access extensive bovine reproduction information and genetic evaluations conveniently by clicking on either www.selectsires.coop or www.selectsires.com," says Jackie Salyer, communications and Web site coordinator for Select Sires. "Offering this additional Web site address is a reminder that Select Sires is a federation of cooperatives, a business that belongs to the people who use it."

According to the National Cooperative Business Association (NCBA), the new .coop domains enable cooperatives to create an online global identity as a member-owned business that customers can trust.

Regardless of how people access the Select Sires Web site, they will find a wide array of educational information about reproduction and genetics. In addition to seeing articles about improving pregnancy rates and heat detection, each week visitors to the site can listen to the latest Reproductive Moment segment that airs each Thursday on the nationally syndicated DairyLine Radio program. Producers also can look up detailed genetic information about individual beef and dairy sires in the virtual directories.

Select Sires is a federation of 10 farmer-owned and controlled cooperatives. It provides excellence in sires, service and programs to achieve its basic objective of supplying livestock breeders with America’s best genetics at a reasonable price.
