Maine Student Named Intern at Leading U.S. A.I. Organization


PLAIN CITY, Ohio, July 22, 2002 — Kate Briggs, Turner, Maine, has been selected as the summer intern for the dairy-sire department at Select Sires, Plain City, Ohio. In this role she will work with the Select federation’s 10 member cooperatives by helping them locate, fit and photograph daughters of Select sires. In addition, she will assist with tours and other projects for the dairy-sire and -marketing departments while based at the organization’s headquarters office in Plain City.

Briggs is the daughter of Stephen and Mary Briggs, Brigeen Farms, Turner, Maine. This fall she will be a junior at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, Calif., where she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business and dairy science. A student herdsperson at the university dairy, Briggs is also a member of the dairy club and the dairy judging team. This year she was named a 2002 Holstein Association USA National Distinguished Junior Member Finalist.
