New Dairy Sire Evaluations Available Quickly via Leading A.I. Web Site

PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Aug. 2, 2002 — Dairy producers who are looking for a quick, convenient way to obtain both production and type results from the quarterly dairy sire evaluations issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Interbull and breed associations on Aug. 12 now can turn to a single source - www.selectsires.com. By 9 p.m. EDT on Monday, Aug. 12, this Web site will carry the latest production and type data for all dairy breeds represented in the Select Sires lineup. At that time, the site also will contain new type composite information for Select’s Holstein lineup as well as pictures showing daughters of many sires.

"Having access to up-to-date sire evaluations in a convenient, timely fashion is important to dairy producers," says Blaine Crosser, vice president, dairy sire product line, Select Sires. "That’s why we are leveraging Internet technology to provide complete August sire evaluations for our entire dairy lineup on the same day we receive information from USDA and other sources."

The Web site also will offer a virtual sire directory for each dairy breed. The English version will be available by Tuesday morning, Aug. 13, with Portuguese- and Spanish-language versions available by Thursday, Aug. 15. One directory feature enables producers to easily sort the sires by milk, protein, type and production-type index (PTI). Convenient links help them look at detailed information on each sire, including his proof, linear type data and photograph. In addition, many individual pages show pictures of daughters.

All of the information on www.selectsires.com is available free to producers and others who are interested in obtaining up-to-date data about leading dairy sires.
