Top Two Holsteins for TPI at Select Sires are New Graduates

PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Aug. 13, 2002 — Ten Holstein bulls have graduated into active-A.I. service at Select Sires, with three of them in the top five of the lineup for Type-Production Index (TPI™). This follows the announcement of new official evaluations by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Interbull and Holstein Association USA on Aug. 12. Sired by 10 different bulls, they enter the largest active-A.I. lineup in the United States.

"This group of bulls truly is a breakout graduating class, topping virtually all of the production lists at Select Sires while averaging +1.69 for Predicted Transmitting Ability for Type (PTAT)," says Rick VerBeek, dairy sire analyst, Select Sires. "In addition to including the Holstein breed's new No. 5 sire for TPI, 9HO2704 Coyne-Farms Patron BEAVER*TV (+1749 TPI), these graduates represent a nice blend of diverse pedigrees (17 different bulls represented as sires and maternal grandsires). As a bonus, this class has specialists for milk components, type and calving ease, and features the highest red-and-white sire for PTA Milk, 7HO6053 Lenkaitis FANTASTIC-RED-ET (+2,054 PTAM)."
