Three New Gold Medal Sires


PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Sept. 13, 2002 — Three Holsteins at Select Sires have earned Gold Medal (GM) recognition from Holstein Association USA, Brattleboro, Vt. Two sires receiving the exclusive Gold Medal designation - which is awarded to approximately 25 sires each year -while still in Select's active-A.I. lineup are 7HO4937 Wa-Del BUBBA-ET*TV, bred by Rick L. Wadel, Shippensburg, Pa., and 7HO4951 Vir-Clar MEADOWLANE*TV, bred by Clarence and Gary Boyke, Fond Du Lac, Wis. 7HO6131 Regancrest Emory DERRY-ET*TV, bred by Regancrest Farm, Waukon, Iowa, also is a new GM sire and has a limited supply of semen available.

With these new GM designations, there now are 14 Gold Medal sires in Select's Holstein lineup.

To qualify for permanent Gold Medal recognition, a sire must meet stringent Type-Production Index (TPI™) requirements, have a minimum reliability of 90 percent for both Predicted Transmitting Ability for Fat (PTAF) and Predicted Transmitting Ability for Type (PTAT), and must be free of undesirable recessives and enzymes.
