Select Sires Has Largest-Ever Graduating Class of Jerseys
PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Nov. 14, 2002 — Semen is now available from
three Jersey bulls that are new graduates into active-A.I.
service at Select Sires, which has one of the largest and most
diverse lineups of proven Jerseys in the industry. This follows
the announcement of new official evaluations by the U.S. Department
of Agriculture, Interbull and the American Jersey Cattle Association
on Nov. 11. These graduates include the only proven active-A.I. son
of 7JE329 Sooner CENTURION-ET and the breed's fourth-highest sire
for Predicted Transmitting Ability (PTA) for Protein.
"With so many highly regarded Jerseys already in Select's lineup, this
is the first time we've been in a position to graduate three such
well-sampled sires at one time," says Jeff Ziegler, sire analyst,
Select Sires. "All three individuals have high Jersey Performance
Indexes™ (JPIs™), but each one offers a diverse combination of
production and type traits that will fit a wide variety of breeding
programs. The 19 proven Jersey sires now at Select give producers
even more flexibility as they design matings to fit their overall
herd-management goals."
