Holstein Sires From Wisconsin to Enter A.I.

PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Dec. 10, 2003 — 7HO7878 Honeycrest SPLENDID-ET*TV, bred by Honeycrest Farms Inc., Spring Valley, Wis., and 7HO7753 Sandy-Valley LEWIG-ET*TV, bred by David, Patrick, Frank Jr., and Gregory Bauer, Scandinavia, Wis., have been chosen to enter Select Sires’ Program for Genetic Advancement™ (PGA™) sire-sampling system. Based on their outstanding pedigrees, SPLENDID and LEWIG are two of 300 Holstein bulls to enter the program in 2003. In addition to being sampled through PGA cooperator herds, these young sires have been identified as SUPER SAMPLERs™. With this designation, their semen is available to all Holstein breeders.

SPLENDID is sired by 7HO5841 Sikkema-Star-W HI METRO-ET. His dam, Honeycrest Marshal Traci-ET is scored Very Good (86). She produced 2-2 209d 18,325M 4.1% 755 F 2.9% 509P INC. Honeycrest Patron Tanya-ET, SPLENDID’s grandam, is scored Very Good (87). Tanya produced 4-4 365d 33,980M 3.8% 1,292F 3.1% 1,042P.

LEWIG is sired by 7HO5708 Fustead Emory BLITZ-ET. His dam, Ricecrest Bwood Brianne-ET, is scored Very Good (88-GMD-DOM) and produced 1-10 365d 39,770M 4.3% 1,711F 3.2% 1,277P. Sandy-Valley Buba Beauty-ET, Very Good (87), Sandy-Valley Blessing-ET, Very Good (88), and Sandy-Valley Terry Bo-ET, Very Good (87) are all maternal sisters to LEWIG and have made records over 30,000 pounds of milk. Ricecrest Southwind Kaye-ET is LEWIG’s grandam. She is scored Very Good (87 GMD-DOM) and produced 5-0 365d 39,450M 4.1% 1,633F 3.2% 1,258P.
