CHAMPION Sons From Maryland to Enter A.I.

PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Feb. 10, 2005 — 7HO8352 Savage-Leigh LIBERTY-ET*TV, bred by Savage-Leigh Farm, Knoxville, Md., and 7HO8354 Ladys-Manor Am CHANNING-ET*TV, bred by Jarod Smith, Monkton, Md., have been chosen to enter Select Sires' Program for Genetic Advancement™ (PGA™) sire-sampling system. Based on their outstanding pedigrees, LIBERTY and CHANNING are two of 300 Holstein bulls to enter the program in 2005. In addition to being sampled through PGA cooperator herds, these young sires have been identified as SUPER SAMPLERs™. With this designation, their semen is available to all Holstein breeders.

LIBERTY is sired by Calbrett-I H H CHAMPION-ET. His dam, Savage-Leigh Lottery-ETS, is scored Very Good (88-EX-MS) and produced 1-10 365d 32,500M 4.3% 1,388F 3.1% 1,023P. Her full sister, Savage-Leigh Aaron Linny-ET, is scored Very Good (88-EX-MS) and produced 2-0 365d 39,160M 4.0% 1,552F 3.1% 1,212P. Savage-Leigh Durham Licorice-ET, Very Good (89-EX-MS), is Lottery's maternal sister. Licorice was named intermediate and reserve grand champion at the New York International Spring Show in 2004. LIBERTY's grandam is Savage-Leigh Bellwood Linda. She produced 2-10 365d 40,240M 5.8% 2,349F 3.4% 1,358P. This record placed her third in Maryland for milk production and first in the nation for fat production. Linda is scored Excellent (92-EX-MS-2E) and is a Gold Medal Dam as well as a Dam of Merit.

Calbrett-I H H CHAMPION is also the sire of CHANNING. His dam, Ladys-Manor Durham Am-ET, is scored Excellent (91) and is Excellent in her mammary system. She produced 3-9 365d 40,294M 4.5% 1,813F 3.1% 1,250P. Her daughter, sired by 7HO5592 Wil-Hart E LOUIE-ET*TV, produced 1-10 323d 28,333M 4.0% 1,131F 2.9% 832P INC. and is scored Very Good (86-VG-MS). CHANNING's grandam is Ladys-Manor Temptress Am-ET. She produced 8-5 365d 32,100M 4.5% 1,438F 3.1% 992P and is scored Very Good (89-GMD-DOM).
