New Holstein and High-Components
Sire Directories Available

PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Feb. 15, 2005 — New Holstein and high-component sire directories from Select Sires are now available for dairy producers as they update mating programs for their herds. The directories include information from the quarterly sire evaluations calculated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, InterBull and the breed associations, and released on Feb. 14, 2005.

The 44-page, full-color Holstein directory features the latest production and type data for Select Sires' 87 active-A.I. sires, as well as 37 SUPER SAMPLER™ bulls whose semen is available through Select's young-sire proving program-the Program for Genetic Advancement™ (PGA™). The details about each active-A.I. sire include his complete proof and an information block that graphically depicts his linear type data. In addition, the directory contains pictures of daughters sired by industry-leading bulls, such as No. 1 Canadian Lifetime Profit Index sire 7HO5708 Fustead Emory BLITZ-ET*TV, No. 1 Predicted Transmitting Ability for Type sire 7HO5841 Sikkema-Star-W HI METRO-ET*CV, and No. 1 Type Production Index (TPI™) sire 7HO6417 O-Bee MANfred Justice-ET*TV. Additionally, six new graduates are featured including 7HO6794 Ricecrest EMMETT-ET*TV, one of the first 7HO6250 Ricecrest EMERSON-ET*BL sons to enter active-A.I.

The 24-page, full-color high-components-breeds directory highlights production and type information for 36 active-A.I. sires and 18 SUPER SAMPLERs representing the Ayrshire, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, Jersey and Milking Shorthorn breeds. Complete proof details and an information block that graphically depicts linear type data are provided for each high-components sire in Select's active-A.I. lineup. The directory also features pictures publicizing five new active-A.I. sires: 7JE622 Ferreira Lemvig PIRANHA-ET, 7JE617 Lemvig RUDY, 7BS758 Triangle Acres POLLYDEN ET, 9BS85 Blessing Garbro LEADER ET and 9AY78 Visserdale HERMAN.
