Three Select Sires Bulls at Top of LPI List
KEMPTVILLE, Ontario, March 15, 2005 — When the Canadian Dairy Network
(CDN) published their February 2005 dairy sire summaries, three proven
Holstein bulls marketed by Select Sires Canada Inc. appeared among the
most elite on the Top 100 Lifetime Profit Index (LPI) list. This
includes the breed's highest-ranking sire, the most-reliable LPI sire,
and a new graduate that is the best for protein yield.
BLITZ No. 1 for LPI, Milk and Type
For the first time ever, one sire has the distinction of ranking as the
No. 1 sire in Canada for LPI, milk yield and type conformation following
a single sire summary release. 7HO5708 Fustead Emory BLITZ-ET*TV (EX-94)
gained this notoriety in February with an LPI index of +2412, a milk
proof of +3361 EBV-kg (95% Rel.), and a conformation value of +19 (94%
Rel.), tying with Innwood TERRASON. BLITZ received his first official
Canadian proof in November 2004 when he placed tenth on the prestigious
list. He remains one of the best 10 type sires for Mammary System, Dairy
Character and Stature. Sired by 7HO3948 MJR Blackstar EMORY-ET, this
breed leader is out of three generations of Excellent, Gold Medal (USA)
Dams.
EMERSON Highest at 99 Percent Reliability
Among the industry's top-50 LPI sires, only two are at 99 percent
reliability and 7HO6250 Ricecrest EMERSON-ET* TV BL is the highest
ranking with a +1596 LPI. Now with 2,434 Canadian daughters in 875
herds, EMERSON offers a solid +1750 EBV-kg Milk, +67 EBV-kg Protein and
+53 EBV-kg Fat, ranking this customer satisfaction sire 44th on the LPI
list. EMERSON also has been widely used as a sire father in the A.I.
industry.
EMMETT...PGAC™ Graduate and "Superior Production" Sire
Debuting as the 14th-highest sire on the February Top-100 LPI list at
+1823 (85% Rel.) is 7HO6794 Ricecrest EMMETT-ET*TV, a son of EMERSON out
of the highly-acclaimed Ricecrest Southwind Kaye-ET (VG-87-GMD-DOM-USA)
cow family. He is the highest-proven sire for protein yield on the
top-100 LPI list at +85 EBV-kg Protein with a +.15%P plus a +2029 EBV-kg
Milk and a +60 EBV-kg Fat. On his initial release, this EMERSON son also
has been recognized as one of only 12 "Superior Production" sires in
Canada. To receive this designation a sire must have combined genetic
indexes for Milk, Fat and Protein that rank him in the top 5 percent of
the Canadian sire population.
