Select Sires Adds New Sires to its Holstein Lineup
PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Aug. 10, 2005 — In conjunction with the USDA quarterly release of genetic evaluations on August 8, Select Sires has introduced an updated lineup of 86 proven Holstein sires to the dairy industry. This list includes a new sire that is higher than +1700 Type-Production Index (TPI™) and four graduates of the Program for Genetic AdvancementTM (PGATM) sampling system that each exceed +400 Net Merit Dollars (NM$).

From High TPI Indexes to Low Somatic Cell Scores
The highest-ranking new total performer at Select Sires this summary is 7HO7254 Raggi Mtoto MAN-ET*TV at +1708 TPI. This genetically-balanced Carol Prelude MTOTO son combines a Predicted Transmitting Ability (PTA) for Milk of +1,377 and PTA for Type of +1.35 with solid components (+.00%F +50F -.01%P +39P 82% Rel.) and one of the breed’s lowest Somatic Cell Scores (2.45 SCS). The result is a sire that fits all milk markets with high economic indexes of +467 NM$, +463 Cheese Merit Dollars (CM$), and +474 Fluid Merit Dollars (FM$).
