Select’s Sires Win Big at World Dairy Expo
PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Oct. 11, 2005 — Select Sires’ bulls represented nearly 25 percent of all black and white Holsteins shown at World Dairy Expo. Popular sires like 7HO5708 Fustead Emory BLITZ-ET*TV, 7HO6782 Ocean-View ZENITH-TW-ET*TV, 7HO4213 Robthom INTEGRITY-ET*TV, 7HO5157 Regancrest Elton DURHAM-ET*TV and others were well represented in some very strong classes.
Winning the winter calf class with 38 heifers was Ra-Rob Blitz Lexus. This BLITZ daughter, who was in contention for junior champion, is owned by Goldenberg, Manley and Parks, McGregor, Texas. Also in the winter calf class, Macland Stormin Bill Erica placed tenth. A daughter of 7HO8431 Macland STORMIN Bill*BL, TV, Erica is the 2005 All-Minnesota winter calf and owned by Macland Holsteins, Rochester, Minn.
The second place junior calf, sired by 7HO6326 Regancrest DIFFERENCE-ET*TV, was Valley-Drive Diffrenc Pilar. She is owned by Crestbrooke and Thal-View Dairy, Edgerton, Wis.
In a strong summer yearling class, Select’s sires claimed four of the top-eight places. In third was the DURHAM daughter Budjon-JK Durham Expedia-TW, owned by Budjon Farms and Joel Kietzman, Lomira, Wis. Savage-Leigh Zenith Liz, owned by Babydoll Genetics, Brookville, Pa., placed fifth. This ZENITH daughter was junior champion of the 2005 Southern Parade show and reserve junior champion at the 2005 New York Spring show.
In the milking classes an INTEGRITY daughter and clone of Vandyk-K Integrity Paradise (EX-96-2E), Vandyk-K Integ Paradise 2-ETN, was first senior 2-year-old and later named intermediate champion. In the same class another Paradise clone, Vandyk-K Integ Paradise 4-ETN (VG-87), was the fourth place senior 2-year-old. Both heifers are owned by Rosedale Holsteins, Oxford, Wis.
DURHAM daughters dominated the show with four class winners and 23 top-10 finishes, and captured the Premier Sire banner for DURHAM and Select Sires. These beautiful daughters won the Kingsmill Farm International Futurity, the junior 3-year-old class, the senior 3-year-old class, the 4-year-old class, reserve intermediate champion, honorable mention intermediate champion, honorable mention senior champion, reserve senior and reserve grand champion.
