Select Sires Bull Tops Type-Transmitting List



PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Nov. 30, 2005 — Select Sires boasts an active lineup featuring the Holstein breed’s top type-transmitting sire, 7HO7004 Erbacres DAMION*TV (EX-92), and nearly a third of the breed’s Top-30 performers for Predicted Transmitting Abilities for Type after the USDA’s quarterly release of genetic evaluations in November.

Select has eight sires exceeding +2.10 PTAT and two of those sires, DAMION and 7HO5841 Sikkema-Star-W HI METRO-ET*CV (EX-96), are in an elite position with over +2.00 for all four Type composites.

The popular DAMION easily tops the competition with a hefty +3.21 PTAT and ranks among the top three at Select with type composites of +2.44 Udder Composite (UD) and +2.73 Feet and Legs (FL). DAMION also has a +2.74 Body Composite (BD) and +2.63 Dairy Composite (D) at 91% Reliability. DAMION is a line-bred sire out of Regancrest Encore Dalhia-ET, a Very Good (89) 9HO1833 Marcrest ENCORE daughter of Snow-N Denises Dellia (EX-95-2E-EX-MS-GMD-DOM) and is known for combining ENCORE frames with the udders, feet and legs of his legendary sire 7HO5157 Regancrest Elton DURHAM-ET.

With a +2.85 PTAT, HI METRO ranks fourth in the breed and second at Select for Type. An outstanding +3.10 Udder Composite makes him a standout. He also excels with +2.00FL, +2.27BD and +2.09D (99% Rel-M). This Herdlife Builder™ has 1,021 classified daughters in the U.S. and Canada marked by balanced strength and depth and breed-leading udders.

The elite 7HO7019 Melarry-S Durham MASON-ET*TV, Select’s newest DURHAM son, tops the Type ranking of Select’s November Holstein releases (+2.67T 74% Rel.). His dam is an Excellent (95-2E) 7HO1897 To-Mar BLACKSTAR-ET daughter with over 50,000 pounds of milk, 3.9% Fat and 1,978 pounds of Fat. MASON is a foot-and-leg improver (+2.83FL) and udder specialist (+1.96UD) with excellent height and width and strong ligaments. The bull has been designated a Herdlife Builder.

Holding strong among the breed’s Top 10 type improvers is 7HO7081 Jeffrey-Way TRYOUT*CV at +2.59T (83% Rel.). This DURHAM son and Herdlife Builder excels in all composite values with +2.61UD +1.69FL +1.46BD +1.28D.

7HO7071 LE-O-La Emerson Classic-TW*TV ranks fifth at Select for offering customer-pleasing type (+2.34T, 86% Rel.). A 7HO6250 Ricecrest EMERSON-ET son, LE-O has gained immediate popularity as an udder specialist (+2.21 UD) and as a mating sire for 7HO5708 Fustead Emory BLITZ-ET*TV daughters.

Popular sire father and foot and leg improver 7HO6758 Regancrest-MR Drham SAM-ET*TV (+2.11 FL, 93% Rel.) stands with a highly respectable +2.32T at Select. This DURHAM son is backed by generations of Excellent dams and offers the composites dairy breeders want (+1.37UD +1.65BD +2.14D).

7HO6918 Regancrest-RH BARRY-ET*CV is Select’s fourth-best udder improver (+2.29 UD, 82% Rel.) with balanced composites across the board for Feet and Legs (+1.34), Body Composite (+1.68) and Dairy Composite (+2.16). This DURHAM son from an Excellent (92-GMD) dam, BARRY’s full sister was nominated All-American Junior 3-year-old in 2004.

Rounding out Select’s top type performers is 7HO8425 MICHael Storm Avalanche*TV. MICH is scored Excellent (93) and anchors the list of two-point sires with a +2.11T (87% Rel.) with strong composites in type traits (+2.20UD +1.84FL +1.48BD +1.26D).
