PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Dec. 19, 2005 — Select Sires’ updated active A.I. sire lineup features several high-components breed superstars with breed-leading health and type traits to build cows with longevity and profit potential for the dairy herd.

Select has Top-10-ranked bulls for Predicted Transmitting Ability for Type and other traits among all current Ayrshire, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, Jersey and Milking Shorthorn sires in the industry.

Six of the 11 best Jersey sires for Predicted Transmitting Ability for Type, each ranking at or above +1.8, come from Select. 7JE510 GOLDEN Boy of Ferreira stands second at +2.2T (96% Rel.) and also carries a +2.79 Somatic Cell Score (94% Rel.) to rank him among the breed’s Top 10. Select’s highest sire for Productive Life is 9JE172 Eastglen Alf KLASSIC-ET at +2.6 (84% Rel.), who also holds a leading +$379 Fluid Merit Dollars score (95% Rel.).

Newcomer 7JE645 O.F. Para LEGAL-ET, a son of H&B Alf PARAGON-ET and the only two-time Premier Performance Cow of the All-American Jersey Show, has the lowest SCS in the breed at +2.64 (58% Rel.) and offers a balance for milk and components (+520M +0.05%P +0.01%F, 75% Rel.) and pleasing type (+1.3PTAT +161JPI™, 62% Rel.).

7JE620 Sunset Canyon MAXIMUS-ET, an ISDK Fyn LEMVIG son, is top in fat and protein rank (+0.52%F +97F +0.17%P +32P, 93% Rel.) and ranks highly in merit scores (+400NM$ +459CM$ +292FM$ 88% Rel.) among Jersey sires.

Guernsey dairies looking for top milk production should go with No. 1-ranked sire 7GU357 Marodore Enhancer ROY-ET, who stands with a breed-leading +1478M at 88% Reliability. ROY also delivers a high type (+1.3 PTAT, 85% Rel.) noted by high, wide rear udders.

Select’s overall type leader in the Guernsey breed is 7GU366 Trotacre Enhancer LEWIS-ET at +167 PTI and +1.5 PTAT (83% Rel.). LEWIS also offers excellent milk production (+1323M, 85% Rel.) backed by +31 Protein and +38 Fat and breed-leading merit scores of +311NM$ and +340FM$. Backed by three dams scored Excellent (91-2E), (92-2E) and (90-3E), and each with multiple milk records over 30,000 pounds, it’s no surprise AGENDA carries an impressive +868M +0.05%P +41P +0.09%F +56F (72% Rel.).

Ayrshire sire 9AY78 Visserdale HERMAN surfaced as the breed’s top milk and fat rank bull in November (+1188M +43F 55% Rel.). HERMAN also draws attention for his No. 3 PTI rank at +157 (49% Rel.), his profit-earning merit figures (+247 NM$,+235CM$ +269FM$ 51% Rel.) and low +2.85 Somatic Cell Score (39% Rel.).

Worth a look for Milking Shorthorn breeders is 7MS341 Bar-D-Kuszmar CLAY, who leads the breed with a +121 PTI (50% Rel.) and ranks among the top five for all other production and merit categories.
