PLAIN CITY, Ohio, May 9, 2006 — Select Sires debuted an updated lineup of 92 Holstein bulls for dairy producers after reviewing the USDA quarterly release of genetic evaluations May 8. The improved lineup features sons from four different sires, including six new sons of the highly popular sire father 7HO5375 Mara-Thon BW MARSHALL-ET and one son of Select’s legendary 7HO5157 Regancrest Elton DURHAM-ET*CV.

"The 10 new Holstein graduates offer a balanced mix of great components, exceptional conformation for udders and feet and legs, and desirable health traits to improve any dairy producer's herd in a variety of ways," said Charlie Will, manager of Select's Holstein sire program.

The exciting new group of sires includes bulls over +1725 TPI™ and a total of eight sires over +1600.

The highest performer for TPI among the new graduates is BW MARSHALL son 7HO7455 Conant-Acres BWM GRANGER-ET (EX-90), who enters the lineup with a high +1726 TPI (72% Rel.). GRANGER is a high-type sire at +2.23 PTAT who can also offer a leading +2.22 Udder Composite, a highly respectable +403 NM$ and solid components (+39P +38F 81% Rel.).

Another top performer at +1725 TPI is 7HO7367 Art-Acres Mar MARS 656-ET (EX-91). MARS comes from the Kay cow family with a solid +1,239 Milk and positive components (+.02% +42P +.03% +54F 86% Rel.) With a leading +2.14 PTAT (83% Rel.), look for MARS to sire daughters with good mobility and correct udders (+1.42 UDC).

Dairy producers will also like 7HO7379 Mar-Bil Marshal G-TAURUS-ET (VG-87) for his top-ranked +1,846 M (84% Rel.), profit potential (+422 NM$) and low 7 percent difficult births in heifers (73% Rel.). G-TAURUS carries a TPI of +1696 and +1.87 PTAT beside a +2.61 FLC, putting this foot and leg specialist at the top of Select’s lineup for mobility improvement.

Type improvers 7HO7383 Windsor-Manor Durham ZEUS (EX-93) and 7HO8151 Courtlane-ML Marsh CODY-ET (EX-90) enter the active lineup over +2.00 PTAT. ZEUS (+2.06 PTAT 58% Rel.) graduates with high reliability (91%) backed by 179 daughters in 108 herds and has already proven himself as a health trait improver. ZEUS offers an enviable +3.0 Productive Life (58% Rel.), low +2.61 SCS (78% Rel.) and +1.9 (52% Rel.) Daughter Pregnancy Rate to add longevity and profit to the herd. CODY carries a low 7% DBH (66% Rel.) and balances production, health and type traits into a complete package. This udder and foot-and-leg improver (+1.63 UDC, +2.12 FLC, 74% Rel.) is a breed leader for rear udder placement and strength and adds great mobility to the cow herd.

7HO7399 O-Bee JONAH-ET (EX-93), another BW MARSHALL son, also offers a complete all-around package at +1.95 PTAT (83% Rel.) with an impressive +1.72 UDC and +2.25 FLC. A maternal brother to breed-leading TPI sire 7HO6417 O-Bee MANfred Justice-ET, JONAH enters the lineup with high reliability (91%), a chart-busting +3.51 foot angle score and high udder linears across the board.

Discriminating dairy producers will like total performance sires 7HO7313 Springhill-Oh NATHAN-ET (EX-91) and 7HO7257 Broad Cove HARBORMASTER-ET (EX-93). NATHAN ranks among the Top-40 Holstein sires for TPI at +1697 (80% Rel.). He graduates with a high 91% Reliability and is among Select’s Top 10 for NM$ at +441. This all-around sire features elite health traits (2.88 SCS 78%Rel., +2.2PL 57%Rel., 7% CE 56%Rel.) beside impressive +1.22 UDC and +1.73 FLC scores (80% Rel.). HARBORMASTER graduated from the Program for Genetic Advancement in Canada™ (PGAC™) with a No. 7 ranking on the Lifetime Profit Index (LPI) and converts to an outstanding +1650 TPI-M here in the United States. HARBORMASTER is an outcross sire free of ELTON and BLACKSTAR influence and carries an impressive +1,196 Milk with +.02% +41P +.01% +45F 79%Rel. to meet the demand for component pricing markets. This sire is also a foot-and-leg and udder specialist (+1.44 UDC +1.46 FLC 60%Rel.).

Producers looking for aunique sire stacks have two new choices in 7HO7382 Vantage-Pt LATTITUDE-ET and 7HO7452 FRITZland CJ Abe-ET (VG-88). LATTITUDE’s pedigree is free of ELTON and EMORY influence, and he has solid components with +1,166 Milk (82% Rel.). LATTITUDE also offers positive linears for strength and foot angle and is an extreme udder improver (+1.74 UDC 79% Rel.). He is also a great choice for heifers at 7% CE (69% Rel.) FRITZ has positive components and extreme fat (+.01% +42P +.10% +75F 85% Rel.) and a high-performing +403 NM$. This +1665 TPI sire is also a great foot and leg improver with a +1.47 FLC (79% Rel.).
