High-Components Breeds Graduates




PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Aug. 16, 2006 — Select Sires updated its high-components breeds active-A.I. lineup with six new graduates after reviewing the USDA quarterly release of genetic evaluations Aug. 7.

Well-Rounded Jersey Sires Join Select’s Elite Lineup

7JE714 Sunset Canyon MATINEE-ET continues the legacy of the Maid family from Tennessee in elevating the breed to new heights for butterfat production. He debuts as No. 1 in the breed for Fat pounds and No. 12 for percent (+.32% +112 77% Rel.). He is the highest in his family for milk yield at +1,103 Milk. MATINEE joins his two maternal brothers, 7JE620 Sunset Canyon MAXIMUS-ET and 7JE605 Sunset Canyon MECCA, as leading transmitters for fat production, great longevity and outcross genetics.

MATINEE was sampled by Cedarcrest Farms and Sunset Canyon Jerseys by dispersing semen in Alabama and Oregon, yielding outstanding results. With excellent Productive Life (+2.6 PL 53% Rel.), his daughters boast dairy-strength, longevity performance and competitive ability.

Also joining the Jersey lineup are 7JE641 Sunbow Freedom ROMO-ET and 7JE679 All Lynns Hallmark RAY-ET. ROMO is a milk yield specialist at +1,344 Milk (81% Rel.), standing tenth in the breed. He is the son of 7JE424 Molly Brook Glnwood FREEDOM-ET out of a (VG-86%) 7JE386 Barbs Mbsb DECLO daughter, who produced 26,440 Milk as a second-calf 2-year-old. Backed by generations of Excellent and Very Good dams, ROMO provides daughters with outstanding width, capacity and rear udders.

RAY specializes in balanced breeding and adds components without sacrificing milk production (+968 Milk +40 Protein +46 Fat 78% Rel.). He excels in Cheese Merit Dollars at +$385 and has exceptional udder linear values. RAY’s dam, a DECLO daughter, scored Very Good (85), made more than 17,000 Milk 5.1% Fat and 3.7% Protein in 305 days as a yearling. RAY has no Danish bloodlines and promises fantastic results.

Elite Brown Swiss, CHRIS, Joins Lineup

7BS769 Oak Forest Ace CHRIS ET*TM debuts as the most exciting new release sire in the breed. He joins 7BS758 Triangle Acres POLLYDEN ET and 7BS766 Blessing Banker AGENDA ET among the Top-5 PTI bulls in the breed scoring +197 PTI-M (63% Rel.). He tops the breed for Fat (+72F 79% Rel.) and his dam, Oak Forest Jetway Crystal ET “2E93” Elite, is one of Jetway’s best daughters. She made more than 42,000 pounds of Milk from an Excellent (93) mammary. CHRIS’s early linear data show his daughters as open dairy cows that have high rear udders and deep cleft.

Guernsey Graduate, HAWK, Tops Breed for Protein Production

Backed by generations of Excellent and Very Good dams, 7GU391 Jens Gold G HAWK joins the Guernsey lineup tied for the No. 1 spot in the breed for Protein at +40 (70% Rel.). He is also a Top-5 PTI sire (+174 PTI 63% Rel.) and has solid Milk production at +1,107. HAWK hails from a unique pedigree, sired by the breed’s high percents specialist and customer satisfaction sire, 7GU343 Rozelyn Patmar Jay GLACIER-ET. HAWK’s three-generation Gold Star Dam maternal family begins with an Excellent (92) Velour daughter that was shown successfully in Minnesota and Wisconsin while completing two records over 26,000 pounds of Milk. HAWK’s daughters are tall and wide with a terrific combination of strength and dairyness, in addition to wide rear udders with plenty of height and correct teat placement.

Introducing High-PTI Ayrshire Sire, AVENGER

7AY76 Kellcrest AVENGER-ET enters the proven lineup ranking fourth among Ayrshires for PTI at +139 (56%). He also has exceptional Type (+0.6 56% Rel.) and good components (+.00%P +.11%F 70% Rel.), standing first in the breed for Fat percent. His pedigree appeals to top-notch breeders world-wide, coming from the famous Happy family of the Kellcrest herd in Quebec. AVENGER’s dam was a former No. 1 LPI cow and turned many heads at several shows in her prime as Canada’s queen of the breed. She boasted an Excellent (94-2E-2*) score and four successive 21,000 pounds plus Milk records and was only outdone by the grandam, Happy Spirit (EX-92-5E-9*), who had six records over 23,000 pounds of Milk up to 30,597M 1,221F 1,048P. With an unmatched linear breakdown for udders, this Pardner son will have immediate interest.
