DURHAM Dairy Expo: Four in a Row



PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Oct. 10, 2006 — Now for the fourth year running, the most prestigious award given to a bull, the Ted Krueger Premier Sire award, was won by 7HO5157 Regancrest Elton DURHAM-ET*CV at the 2006 World Dairy Expo International Holstein Show, Madison, Wis. In the milking cow classes, there were three class winners and 21 top-10 finishes. The 41 total DURHAM daughters exhibited represented 22 percent of the milking animals at World Dairy Expo. The next closest sire only had nine milking females in the entire show.

DURHAM dominated the five-year-old class, siring the top-5 animals. Elder-Creek Durham Blue (EX-91-EX-MS), owned by Elmvue, Johnstown, N.Y., was named reserve grand champion female of the entire Holstein show after placing first in the 5-year-old class and winning reserve senior champion female. Sunny-Valley Durham Electra (EX-94-EX-MS), owned by Gene Iager and Dupasquier Holsteins, Fulton, Md., placed second in the class, followed by Md-Maple-Lawn D Miranda (EX-93-EX-MS), owned by Ken-Wan Farm and David Alexander, Luray, Va.; Ajay Durham Jolt Little (EX-92-EX-MS), owned by Emily Alsdorf, Spartansburg, Pa.; and Sure-Can-Do Durham Vanity (EX-93-EX-MS), owned by Arethusa Farm, Litchfield, Conn.

Rhineland Durham Amy-ET (EX-92-EX-MS), owned by Budjon Farms and J. Danhof, Lomira, Wis., was named the best Holstein in the Kingsmill Farm II International Futurity Class and then was crowned the Futurity Champion of all breeds. In the next class, Amy topped the senior 3-year-olds. Blue-Gene Durham Dooley-ET (EX-91-EX-MS) was the second place senior 3-year-old and is owned by Quietcove Holsteins, John Koster and Tim Curran, Wapakoneta, Ohio. The 4-year-old class was also highlighted by DURHAM daughters. Mischke Durham Krystal (EX-94-EX-MS) was second and is owned by Arethusa Farm, Litchfield, Conn. Third in the class was Mahoney Durham Katlyn (EX-92-EX-MS), owned by Rottinghaus Holsteins and Jeff Woods, Seneca, Kan.

Earlier in the week at the Grand National Junior Holstein Show, DURHAM daughters dominated as well. Ajay Durham Jolt Little (EX-92-EX-MS) was honored with reserve senior and reserve grand champion of the show after winning the 5-year-old class. Second in that class was La-Par Maggie Durham Shelby (EX-93-EX-MS), owned by Joshua Whitehill, Latham, Kan. Two other DURHAM winners included Zach Durhm Do You Po Sherry (VG-85) and Charverne Durham Arlene (EX-94-EX-MS). Sherry won the junior 2-year-old class and is owned by Tom Wegner, Ettrick, Wis. Arlene topped the 6-year-old and older class and is owned by Casey George, Baldwin City, Kan.
