PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Nov. 21, 2006 — Following the USDA quarterly release of genetic evaluations Nov. 13, Select Sires strengthened its position as the industry-leader for TPI™. Select Sires is home to 29 bulls that rank among the top 100 in the breed, including the breed-leader for TPI, 7HO6417 O-Bee MANfred Justice-ET. O MAN once again claimed Holstein Association USA’s TPI list at +2009 (97% Rel.) and is now spending his forty-second month leading the breed for Net Merit Dollars.

The November genetic evaluations proved monumental for O MAN. The epitome of second-crop success, O MAN more than doubled the number of daughters in his proof from 1,317 daughters in 446 herds in August to now having 2,956 daughters in 896 herds, strengthening his TPI by 62 points (up from +1947 TPI last sire summary). O MAN previously ranked first for TPI from May 2003 through February 2006, and now reclaims his position as the breed-leader this sire summary. O MAN’s Net Merit Dollars increased to +$757 (99% Rel.), up +$47 from August’s genetic evaluations. He has topped the breed for Net Merit Dollars since May 2003 – that’s more than three years!

In addition to O MAN, nine other bulls on Select’s lineup score +1700 or better for TPI and rank among the top 50 in the breed. 7HO7482 Jafral Marsh BINKY-ET is eighth for TPI at +1858 (82% Rel.). BINKY, a 7HO5375 Mara-Thon BW MARSHALL-ET son, is an elite component sire (+.13% Fat +.01% Protein 83% Rel.) and has exceptional udder linears (+1.92 Udder Composite 82% Rel.). BINKY is a calving-ease specialist at 6% CE (70% Rel.), making him an excellent choice for heifers. 7HO7359 Jenny-LOU Marshall P149-ET ranks among Select’s top 5 for TPI at +1751 (87% Rel.). He boasts outstanding type traits (+3.08 Type +2.71 UDC +1.97 FLC) and with +1.82 foot angle, his daughters perform well in free-stall operations. LOU also tops Select’s lineup for stature (+3.17), dairy form (+2.87) and udder cleft (+3.29).

7HO7536 COLDSPRINGs Kenyon 9118-ET and 7HO7544 Our-Favorite FRASIER-ET are new releases that excel in total performance improvement. At +1749 TPI (83% Rel.), COLDSPRING transmits exceptional Type (+2.18). This BW MARSHALL son scores +1.95 for both Udder Composite and Feet and Leg Composite. COLDSPRING boasts elite health traits with 2.86 Somatic Cell Score (71% Rel.), +2.6 Productive Life (56% Rel.) and +0.4 Daughter Pregnancy Rate (55% Rel.), and carries the Herdlife Builder™ and Superior Settler™ designations. COLDSPRING is also a calving ease sire at 8% CE. FRASIER debuts among Select’s top 10 for TPI and among the top 50 in the breed. 7HO6967 Golden-Oaks CARSON-ET scores +1736 TPI and is also a protein specialist at +52P (88% Rel.). A Superior Settler, CARSON improves Productive Life (+2.3 66% Rel.) and Net Merit Dollars (+$412 79% Rel.).
