Select’s Jersey Lineup: Better than Ever



PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Apr. 11, 2008 — Following the April 1 release of genetic evaluations, Select Sires’ Jersey lineup features breed leaders for Jersey Performance Index™ (JPI™), Milk, Fat and Protein. “Seven new sires have been released in 2008 to strengthen our genetic options and provide diversity to Jersey breeders,” said Jeff Ziegler, manager of protein and specialty breed programs for Select Sires. In addition, Select’s elite sires of all high-components breeds continue to lead the industry in several traits.

New Graduate TBONE Improves the Bottom Line
7JE1000 Richies Jace TBONE A364 is a 7JE535 Windy Willow Montana JACE son who stands third for JPI (+267) and second for Protein (+59). Elite components and yield allow him to rank No. 2 in the breed for Cheese Merit (+$550) and No. 3 for Net Merit (+$498). A Herdlife Builder™ with gender SELECTed™ semen available, TBONE produces more heifers that will last.

MVF and INFLUENCE Enter Select’s Jersey Lineup
New release 7JE739 MVF Barkly Juan 1107-ET is out of the acclaimed MVF Brass Juanita-ET (E-93%), also the dam of 7JE707 MVF Maximus JUAN 1025-ET. This 7JE488 Long Distance Barber BARKLY son mirrors his sire’s success with excellent milk production, adequate frames, quality udders and great health traits. Guernsey Breed Leaders
7GU395 Sniders Option AARON-ET leads Guernseys for Fat (+55) and is second for PTI (+165). Out of the acclaimed Cedar Fringed Altann (EX-95-EX-95-MS-GSD), AARON ranks fifth in the breed for both Type (+1.5) and Percent Fat (+.15%).
