East Central Honors Jim Costello With Pioneer Award


East Central/Select Sires recently held their 61st Annual Meeting in Madison, Wis. One of the highlights of the meeting was the presentation of the Pioneer Award to former East Central/Select Sires Board President Jim Costello, Fond du Lac, Wis. The Pioneer Award is presented annually to someone who made a major impact on the success of the cooperative, either as an employee, a board member, or an industry leader. Jim and his wife Betty were present to accept the award.

Throughout his tenure on the board of directors, Costello served as vice president and president, was a delegate to the National Association of Animal Breeders (NAAB) convention, and also served on the Select Sires national board of directors.

"Jim has been a very positive leader for this cooperative," said Al Deming, EC/SS general manager. "His strong belief in cooperative principles and business skills made him a very valued and respected board president. Jim has been recognized by several organizations for his leadership abilities, and we’re proud to be able to present him with one of our most prestigious awards."

East Central/Select Sires is a professional, artificial breeding cooperative serving dairy and livestock producers in southern Wisconsin. As a member-owner of Select Sires located near Plain City, Ohio, East Central helps make up the largest Artificial Insemination (A.I.) cooperative in the world.
