To Customer Success

Just when it seems that all possible superlatives have been used to describe the successes of your Select Sires federation, along comes a year like 2001.

Tri-Day Ashlyn-ET, an Excellent (96) daughter of 9HO1833 Marcrest ENCORE*TV, led the way in demonstrating Select’s slogan "Our Type Shows." She was supreme champion at World Dairy Expo, the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair and the All-American Dairy Show in Harrisburg, Pa. 7JE356 Lester SAMBO was the premier performance sire at the All American Jersey Show, Louisville, Ky., marking the eighth time in 11 years a Select sire has earned this honor.

In September two Select sires became the highest-classified individuals to produce more than one million units of semen: 7HO4213 Robthom INTEGRITY-ET*TV, Excellent (96), and 7HO3707 Paradise-R Cleitus MATHIE*CV, Excellent (95). The Holstein Association USA committee also raised the final score of 7HO6250 Ricecrest EMERSON-ET*BL, TV, to Excellent (95). For the second, consecutive year these sires, along with 7HO5157 Regancrest Elton DURHAM-ET*CV, were the four most popular Select sires as measured by semen sales.

By graduating 38 new sires of five different breeds in 2001, we strengthened the balance of each lineup. In just his second quarter in active-A.I., 7HO5851 Sikkema-Star Air MAGNA-ET*TV became the breed’s second-highest for Type-Production Index (TPI™) with +1749. August graduate 7HO5841 Sikkema-Star-W HI METRO-ET*CV is now the highest Holstein for Udder Composite (+3.30).

An additional testament to the value provided by the scope of the Program for Genetic Advancement™ (PGA™) is that Select Sires is home to the top two PTI sires in the Ayrshire and Guernsey breeds. And, 7HO3948 MJR Blackstar EMORY-ET*TV, who is well-known for his ability to transmit production from strength, became noted as a sire of sons, with 13 well-regarded sons now available in Select’s lineup alone.

On the business front, Select Sires contributed resources to form a 50-50 joint venture that purchased the assets of World-Wide Sires Inc. in August. This reaffirms the federation’s commitment to the global cattle-genetics business, and will help maintain the size and breadth of our aggressive progeny-testing program.

These collective successes are just some of what makes Select Sires the preferred supplier of reproductive solutions for dairy and beef producers throughout the world. They add to the federation’s strong foundation of providing America’s best genetics, and position Select Sires to help you create additional successes in 2002.
