The Customer is No. 1

At Select Sires we're not No. 1 - you are.
That's the reason Select's dairy sires, programs and people
increasingly are being recognized as the finest in the industry.
We are working for you, the producer, to breed better cattle,
to improve conception and to enhance the profitability of
your enterprise.
Because of this, Select Sires experienced another record year in 2001.
Not only is the federation North America's largest A.I. organization,
providing more service throughout the United States than any competitor,
but more producers are switching to Select Sires genetics (an increase of
more than 1.3 million units of semen from 2000 to 2001). Looking at
numbers alone, it can easily be construed that Select Sires is No. 1.
At the heart of this business success, however, is the concept of
individuality. We service one customer at a time, inseminate one cow
at a time and generate genetic improvement one animal at a time. It
is important to have an organization that provides a wide variety of
services that are tailored to meet individual needs of the whole herd
as well as the specific animal. It is you, the dairy producer, who
chooses your genetic-development partner.
To deliver against this promise of meeting individual needs day-in and
day-out, Select continues a longstanding commitment to provide you with
the broadest range of high-quality services and the best selection of
the world's highest-quality genetics. The expanded Program for Genetic
Advancement™ (PGA™), which now enables Select Sires to sample more
than 325 dairy sires each year, keeps the federation at the cutting
edge of genetic improvement. Programs like Select Mating Service™,
SELECT SYNCH and MGA® SELECT estrus-synchronization systems, and
total-herd reproductive services enable Select representatives to
provide service that can help make a vital difference.
Your local Select Sires producer-owned cooperative is responsible for
tailoring these and other services to meet your needs. As you see
additional ways that Select Sires could help further improve the
profitability of your operation, please let your representative know
so that we can enhance our portfolio of services to meet your evolving needs.
Recognizing that the dairy industry continues to change, during 2001, a
team of member-cooperative managers, directors and staff completed a
strategic analysis of the Select Sires federation. One important result
was the development of a new mission statement, which clearly describes our role:
To enhance the productivity and profitability of dairy and beef producers,
Select Sires is committed to be the premier provider of highly fertile,
superior genetics accompanied by effective reproductive- and herd-management
products and services.
As you read this, you may wonder 'what's new?' You're right, in that your
representative and the entire Select federation have been doing much of
this for many years. What is different, however, is that this mission
statement clearly puts the benefit to you - the customer - at the beginning
of this statement of commitment.
As we look forward to achieving this mission, our focus is on you. It is
this focus that has encouraged more U.S. dairy and beef producers to switch
to Select Sires than any other company. If you are not benefiting from the

Thanks to all of our valued customers who have chosen Select Sires and
made 2001 our best year ever (more than 7.66 million units). It has been an
