All-Time All-Americans / DURHAM Dies

All-Time All-Americans

Daughters of Select bulls tallied many winners in the All-Time All-American contest in the October 2003 issue of Holstein World.

The contest set up a challenge between the All-Time All-Americans from a contest held in 1984 and the cow classes in the yearly All-American contests held from 1984 to 2002.

Nine of the 14 winners were daughters of bulls including 7HO58 Round Oak Rag Apple ELEVATION, 7HO129 Kanza Matt TONY, 7HO401 MARShfield Elevation Tony, 9HO1833 Marcrest ENCORE*TV, 9HO1878 Ri-Mark Aerostar WINDSOR-ET*TV.

DURHAM Dies

At 9 years, 7 months of age, DURHAM was removed from stud due to his deteriorating physical condition. While always popular among producers throughout the world, DURHAM became even more sought-after as a mating sire once his second-crop daughters began freshening in 2002.

Well-known for transmitting extraordinary type conformation, DURHAM has earned a highly reliable PTA for Type higher than +3.0 every quarter since May 2002. In addition, his PTAs for each of the four type composites exceed +2.0. He sired extreme protein production (PTA +.08%P) and had a PTA for cheese-yield dollars of +481.

A Gold Medal sire, DURHAM was named premier sire of the 2003 World Dairy Expo International Holstein Show, Madison, Wis.

DURHAM’s legacy will live on through his daughters and the more than 75 sons that have been sampled through the Select Sires Program for Genetic Advancement™ (PGA™). A limited supply of DURHAM is available from Select Sires.
