Dairy Challenge
Select Sires was again a proud foundation platinum
sponsor of the 2004 North American Intercollegiate Dairy
Challenge. In addition to monetary support, this year three
of the judges were employees of the Select Sires federation.

Lortie Dale Jordon Sue, owned by Austin Robinson,
Fountain City, Ind., was intermediate champion of the open
show and reserve grand champion of the junior show at the
Indiana State Show.
Mark Yeazel, Eaton, Ohio, has two Very Good (85)
daughters that have outstanding records. Ja-Bob Jordan Juno
produced 2-11 365d 30,210M 3.7% 1,101F 3.3% 987P;
and Ja-Bob Jordan Shatzie produced 3-0 365d 29,900 4.2%
1,253F 3.1% 923P.
Class-Leading Guernseys
Very Good (85) 7GU379 My Day Bliss BANGER-ET daughters
have produced class-leading records. Marodore Banger Venus,
owned by Marodore Farm, Baltimore, Ohio, has 1-11 365d
26,330M 4.4% 1,167F 3.1% 822P. OCS Dairy Taylors Bambie,
OCS Dairy, Jefferson, Md., produced 2-1 305d 28,180M
5.3% 1,506F 3.2% 894P. These cows rank No. 11 and 12,
respectively, on the May 2004 Guernsey CPI list.
National Bell Ringer
The fall heifer calf National Bell Ringer for
2003 is Elm Park NJR Meadow-ET. This daughter of
7BS733 Misa Jetway MASCOT ET is owned by Marshall Taylor,
Worton, Md.

Hightide Joyful Jacqueline, a
7HO6329 ZIMMERview Terry Micah-ET*TV daughter owned by
Hightide Holsteins, Tillamook, Ore., is now Very Good (85)
and produced 2-1 321d 32,920M 3.2% 1,038F 2.6% 855P.
JACE Daughters Top Sales
April Jersey sales saw 7JE535 Windy WIllow Montana JACE
daughters bringing top bids. Leading the Cedarcrest Sale III,
held in April at the farm in Faunsdale, Ala., was Jaces Jan,
a 2-month-old calf that sold for $15,100 to Charles Arlen,
New Vienna, Iowa.
At the Wilderness Jerseys dispersal, Hamburg, Pa.,
a 9-month-old calf, Wilderness Jace Lotto, was purchased for
$10,000 by Craig A. Rhein, Pine Grove, Pa. Nine JACE daughters
sold at the Wilderness sale, averaging over $4,000.
DURHAMs Steal Show
At the Midwest National Spring Show, held in April
in Madison, Wis., DURHAM daughters took home the rosettes.
Scientific Debutante Rae-ET, owned by Matt and Mandy Nunes,
Chippewa Falls, Wis., was intermediate and reserve grand champion.
Spectrum Durham Megan-ET, Jeff Woods and Rottinghaus, Seneca, Kan.,
was reserve intermediate champion. DURHAM was named premier sire of the show.
DYNASTY Daughters

are doing well. Lone Oak Dynasty Jessi,
Eric Anderson, Elgin, Iowa, is now Very Good (86-VG-87-MS).
Fanfare Dynasty Uletide, Very Good (87), produced 2-2 305d
24,692M 4.1% 1,006F 3.3% 805P for owner Fanfare Farms, Monticello, Iowa.
50,000-pound Holsteins
According to Holstein Association USA’s list of cows
with records over 50,000 pounds of milk, 122 of the 332 listed
are sired by stud code 7 or 9 bulls.
New Excellents
Select has heard several reports of high-scoring DURHAM
daughters from across the country. Topping the list is
Poplar-Bend Durham Molly, raised to Excellent (95).
Owned by Roger and David Friese, Wanamingo, Minn., Molly was also
reserve grand champion at the 2003 Minnesota State Fair.
T-Farm Durham Premium, Natalie Taylor, Bouckville, N.Y.,
is now Excellent (92); and Ocean-View Durham Zandra, owned by Ocean-View
Farms, Windsor, Calif., is Excellent (91). In addition,
Willows-Edge Durham Dasani is Very Good (89) with an Excellent (91) mammary.
Markwell Emerson Felicia, a daughter of
7HO6250 Ricecrest EMERSON-ET*BL,TV, owned by Marvin and Mark Van
Mersbergen, Lynden, Wash., is now Excellent (90).
Daughter of 7HO6194 Mr MILLENNIUM-ET*TV, Norcentex
Millennium Mandy, scored Excellent (90) for Norcentex Dairy, Scotland, Texas.
Glen-Valley Win Caprice-ET, a daughter of
7HO4637 Ladys-Manor WINCHESTER-ET*TV owned by Ken Umble,
Atglen, Penn., is now Excellent (90-EX-MS).
Whittier-Farms BWM Renee became the first Excellent
MARSHALL daughter when she scored Excellent (90-EX-91-MS).
Renee is owned by Whittier Farms, West Sutton, Mass.
Also, B-Hiddenhills Marshall Viv, Hidden Hills Dairy,
McBain, Mich., was raised to Excellent (90).

first cow to be named grand champion at both the British Royal
and National [British] Holstein Show in the same lactation.
