Garrison Joins Select Sires


Brian GarrisonBrian Garrison has been named to the position of dairy sire analyst for Select Sires Inc. In this role, he will be responsible for Holstein sire procurement from Ohio to Florida, as well as Ontario and Quebec provinces in Canada. Garrison also will oversee Select's Red and White Holstein and Brown Swiss sire programs.

"Brian’s wealth of experience and knowledge in cattle breeding and market awareness makes him a great asset to Select Sires and the sire department," says Charlie Will, manager Holstein sire selection. "He shares Select Sires' breeding philosophy of creating the type of sire to meet all market needs."

Garrison has more than 18 years of experience in the A.I. industry and has had an outstanding track record of acquiring breed-leading sires. Garrison has additionally held positions of area sales manager, director of sire programs and sire analyst, and he has served on the Holstein Association USA’s Type Advisory Committee and Genetic Advancement Committee (GAC). Garrison has served as judge or associate judge at many national shows in the United States including the 1997 International Holstein Show, the 1998 National Jersey Show, the 1996 and 2000 National Brown Swiss Show, the 2000 National Milking Shorthorn Show and the 1999 National Red and White Holstein Show. He has also judged internationally including shows in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Mexico, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Japan.

Along with Garrison’s distinguished judging career, he has traveled to Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, Italy, Latin America and New Zealand for breeder seminars. He also has worked extensively consulting many large commercial herds and appreciates the profitable commercial cow.
