Kacy Baugher, National FFA Secretary, and Jamie Cecil, National FFA Central Region Vice President, recently visited Select Sires as part of the Partnership Tour, where FFA students visit with executives of leading companies. Baugher and Cecil visited with David Thorbahn, general manager for Select Sires, and had the opportunity to learn about the A.I. industry.
RAY: Now gender SELECTed, Daughter Gaining Accolades

Lyon Ray Missie (EX-90)
7JE679 All Lynns Hallmark RAY-ET is now available on the gender SELECTed lineup. His daughter, Lyon Ray Missie (EX-90) was reserve intermediate champion at the Wisconsin Spring Show after winning the senior 3-year-old class. She is owned by Robin Koss/Yarrabee Cow LLC, Epworth, Iowa.
FORBIDDEN Daughter Named Uruguay Cow of the Year
Magda 2964 Forbidden Astre (VG-88), owned by Julio Antognaza, an SMS evaluator, was named 2006 Cow of the Year in Uruguay. Shown as a 4-year-old, she is sired by 7HO5687 Sandy-Valley FORBIDDEN-ET.
FINALIST Builds Production and Show-Winning Reputation

7JE715 BW FINALIST daughter BW Finalist Brandy L348 (VG-88), Brentwood Farms, Orland, Calif., was second senior 2-year-old at the 2006 California State Fair. She also produced a first record of 305d 24,340M 4.9% 1,202F 3.4% 823P. During her second lactation, her first test was 104 pounds of milk and her second test was 113 pounds.

9AY78 Visserdale HERMAN daughter Maple-Dell Herman Bev, Patrick Family, Woodbine, Md., is now Very Good (88). In addition, she recently completed her second lactation with more than 27,000 pounds of milk. Please check with your member cooperative for availability of HERMAN semen.
BARKLY Daughter Holds World Record

Mainstream Barkly Jubilee (VG-87)
Mainstream Barkly Jubilee (VG-87), daughter of 7JE488 Long Distance Barber BARKLY, now holds the Jersey world record for milk and protein production with her 3-year-old record of 365d 49,250M 4.6% 2,251F 3.4% 1,645P. Her son, 7JE880 Mainstream Klassic JOHNSON, will be released as a Super Sampler™ in May. Barkly Jubilee's dam, Mainstream Berretta Joy (VG-88), was the previous world record holder and her grandam is the only cow in the breed with five consecutive 30,000 pound-plus milk records. She is owned by Melissa Kortus, Lynden, Wash.
DURHAM ADVENT'ure Sale: A Huge Success
Because 7HO5157 Regancrest Elton DURHAM-ET*CV and 7HO7872 KHW Kite ADVENT-RED-ET semen is not available in Canada, the DURHAM ADVENT’ure Sale in Guelph, Ont., Canada, offered buyers a unique opportunity to purchase animals with some of the most impressive bloodlines in North America. The sale averaged $14,055 on 49 head. Topping the sale was 3-year-old Moondale Durham Alicia (VG-88) at $70,000. Alicia, backed by five Excellent dams, was consigned by Gail and Tim Hoese and Jim and Joel Phoenix and was purchased by the Alicia Syndicate, Peterborough, Ont. Lot 1 Butz-Butler Durham Amy-ET, consigned by Budjon Farms, Lomira, Wis., was purchased for $60,000 by Hanover Hill, Cybil Fisher and Kooyman, Guelph, Ont.
ADVENT-RED daughters also highlighted the sale. Three-month-old Galestone Ava Rae-Red-ET, sold for $30,000 to Lawson Bennett and David Tait, Grottoes, Va. An ADVENT-RED choice from Miss Del-Hollow Jose-Red-ET, grand champion 2007 New York Spring International Holstein Show, sold for $32,000 to Valleyriver/Showline/Patience/Genervations. An ADVENT-RED maternal sister to Lylehaven Lila Z (VG-89) sold for $26,000 for Rocky Mountain Holsteins and Hanover Hill Holsteins. A first-choice ADVENT-RED from Hillcroft Leader Melanie’s (EX-96) September Storm daughter sold for $26,000 and was consigned by Tom Mercuro.

Select Sires Champions at Midwest Spring Show
Rhineland Durham Amy-ET (EX-92), sired by DURHAM and owned by Budjon Farms and Jason Danhof, Lomira, Wis., was named senior and grand champion at the Midwest Spring Show, Madison, Wis. She topped the 4-year-old class. Flo-An Metro Carmel, sired by 7HO5841 Sikkema-Star-W HI METRO-ET and owned by Mark Butz and Rick and Dan Reuter, Peosta, Iowa, was intermediate champion and reserve grand champion after winning the senior 3-year-old class. DURHAM was named premier sire of the show.
At the Midwest Spring Red and White Show, ADVENT-RED sired several high-placing daughters. L-Maple Advent Sissy-Red was reserve junior champion and first winter yearling. She is owned by Tom Lyon and Son, Westfield, Wis. Reserve intermediate champion and first junior 3-year-old went to Cherrie-Kreek Bonnie-Red-ET, owned by Mystik-Kreek Farm, Oxford, Wis. Sunny-Valley Ad Fizz-Red-ET was reserve junior champion of the junior show after winning the junior 3-year-old class. She is owned by Kyle Natzke, Fond du Lac, Wis.
LEWIS Daughter Tops Class in Hoard's Dairyman Contest

Bay Meadow Vivacious (VG-87-EX-90-MS)
7GU366 Trotacre Enhancer LEWIS-ET daughter, Bay Meadow Lewis Vivacious (VG-87-EX-90-MS), topped the Guernsey class in the 2007 Hoard's Dairyman judging contest. The class of cows was provided by Program for Genetic Advancement (PGA) cooperator herd, Bay Meadow Farms, Galt, Calif.
