MAC Tailpaint
THE MOST EFFICIENT HEAT DETECTION SYSTEM AVAILABLE
Superior Heat Detection
MAC Tailpaint is an easy to use paint system for detecting heat in dairy cows. You may effortlessly apply a mark that lasts 14-28 days. MAC Tailpaint is available in four bright colors to give clearly visible sign of an animal having been mounted by other cows.
Easy To Use
Easy to use aerosol or bottle application makes management quicker, simpler and cheaper overall. MAC Tailpaint provides great coverage which makes heat detection easy to recognize. Bright waterproof colors make identification simple in all weather conditions.
Excellent Management Tool
MAC Tailpaint is available in four bright colors. Multiple colors allow dairymen to develop a marking system that will aid in their herd's reproduction program. This long lasting product does not require constant touch up, which saves time and money for busy dairymen.
Unique Product
MAC Tailpaint is an oil based, which was developed in New Zealand to provide inexpensive, accurate heat detection in all weather conditions. This product also is ideal for marking udders for mastitis identification.
MAC Tailpaint is an excellent tool for improving heat detection but will not replace other tools such as the BOVINE BEACON® Standing Heat Indicator or visual observation.
Complete Management Program
Color 1
- Apply 21 days prior to the beginning of your A.I. program. This indicates which cows are cycling.
Color 2
- Apply immediately prior to the start of your A.I. program. This indicates cows coming into heat for insemination.
Color 3
- Apply 24 to 48 hours after insemination. This shows which cows have been inseminated.
Color 4
- Apply when the cow is confirmed pregnant.
Why MAC Tailpaint?
MAC Tailpaint is quick, simple and economical to use. It's unique formula enables it to adhere to animals in all weather conditions and accurately indicates the recipient of normal riding or mounting due to estrous activity.
Correct use of tail painting indentifies almost 90% of cows in heat.
Tail painting will identify cows that are only in heat for a short time and would otherwise be missed.
Tail paint is rarely removed by indiscriminate mounting of non-estrous cows.
How To Tail Paint.
Apply a 2" wide by 6" long strip along the ridge of the backbone right above the tail.
Spray or paint against the lay of the hair for the first coat, then with the hair for the second coat.
Check the paint strip at each milking. In 90% of cases, most of the paint will be rubbed off or clearly ruffled when a cow is in heat. Paint is rarely removed by occasional mounting of cows when not in heat.
Cows detected in heat and then inseminated should not be repainted until the following milking. Use a different color when repainting inseminated cows. Open cows are then easier to identify.
Tailpaint will last up to four weeks unless that coat hair becomes loose which can happen. Touch-ups with bottle or aerosol tailpaint are required if this happens.
When To Use Tail Paint.
Immediately after calving or at least three weaks before breeding, tail paint can be used to identify cycles or pre-mating heats.
During the time when cows should be mated to identify cows to be bred.
After the cow has been bred.
After the cow has been confirmed pregnant.
Economics.
MAC Tailpaint is economical with over 70 marks per container.
