It's Unanimous: DAMION Now Excellent (95)
PLAIN CITY, Ohio, July 6, 2010 - A committee of classifiers from Holstein Association USA, Brattleboro, Vt., voted unanimously to raise the official type-conformation score of 7HO7004 Erbacres DAMION to Excellent (95) at nine years and 11 months of age.
"DAMION joins the ranks of the few elite sires in the breed to pass committee and achieve a final score of greater than 94 points," said Charlie Will, manager Holstein sire selection for Select Sires. "The committee praised DAMION for his impressive dairy frame, width and depth throughout, dairy strength, and how well he moved on his feet and legs for a bull that will turn 10 years old this month."
A Showcase Selections™ sire, DAMION has been recognized as a leader for type since his release in August 2005 after being sampled through the Program for Genetic Advancement™ (PGA™). Following the April 2010 genetic evaluations, he ranks in the top five of the breed for Type at +3.05. His daughters achieve success on classification day for their owners as well as on the tanbark, and breeders milking his daughters love what they see.
In Canada, he is No. 2 for conformation. Within Select Sires' lineup, he ranks third for Feet and Leg Composite (FLC) at +2.91 and among the top ten for Udder Composite (UDC) at +2.06. DAMION was bred by John Erbsen, Lanark, Ill.
