Select Sires' High-Components Breeds Lineup Is Better than Ever
PLAIN CITY, Ohio, April 13, 2011 - Following the April 2011 release of genetic evaluations, Select Sires' Jersey lineup features high-ranking sires for Genomic Jersey Performance Index™ (GJPI™), components, Net Merit dollar value and Jersey Udder Index™ (JUI™). To further add to the breed-leading Jersey offerings at Select Sires, four new graduates were added to the lineup following April sire evaluations. In addition to the Jersey breed, Select Sires' elite genetics of all high-components breeds continue to lead the industry in numerous traits.

New PGA™ Graduate Jersey Sires Excel for Production and Type
7JE935 Dutch HOLLOW Abel-ET enters the lineup as Select Sires' first Abe son. This balanced sire debuts with a GJPI of +148, placing him among the top 25 sires in the breed for GJPI. HOLLOW displays an impressive linear chart and carries a strong conformation score of +1.4 PTAT and a JUI of +3.53. He sires moderately-sized cattle with plenty of dairy strength, fantastic fore udders with added height and width to the rear udders and mammary systems that are carried well above the hock. In addition, HOLLOW transmits positive component percents (+.10% Protein and +.22% Fat), outstanding Productive Life (+5.1 PL) and lower Somatic Cell Score (2.84 SCS) to his offspring, making him a Herdlife BuilderTM. HOLLOW is out of an Excellent-90% 7JE442 Rock Ella PARAMOUNT-ET dam that spells profitability with a best record of almost 30,000 pounds of Milk and over 1,400 pounds of Fat. 7JE886 Three Valleys Country MILES-ET is sired by Country and is his first son to enter Active A.I. at Select Sires. Herdlife Builder MILES combines superior Type (+1.5 PTAT) with solid production (+774 Milk) to offer a balanced mating with a GJPI of +123. His dam is Sunset Canyon Centurion Maid (E-91%) with over 25,000 pounds of milk and over 1,500 pounds of fat. The next dam needs no introduction as she is the Excellent-93% Tenn Haug E Maid, the dam of current lineup sire 7JE714 Sunset Canyon MATINEE-ET and former lineup sires 7JE605 Sunset Canyon MECCA-ET and 7JE620 Sunset Canyon MAXIMUS-ET to name a few. Maid produced a best record of 6-0 365d 26,014M 7.0%F 1,820F 4.3%P 1,107P.
Two New Danish Jerseys Added To Select Sires' Lineup
236JE148 ISDK DJ BROILER offers outcross genetics to today's modern Jersey pedigrees as the only Bungy son in the world that is available in Active A.I. BROILER ranks among the top 30 sires in the breed for GJPI at +145. He serves as a profit-maker through his offspring's component-rich milk (+.17% Protein and +.32% Fat), elite Net Merit dollar value of +$443 NM and tremendous Cheese Merit dollar value of +$578 CM. Members of the Select Sires team witnessed MAY's consistent type pattern when they visited Denmark this winter to see daughters of the Viking Genetics sires. Select Sires Leads with Jersey Sires
With the April sire evaluations, Select Sires has eight Jersey sires ranked among the top 30 sires for JPI; eight sires ranked among the top 25 sires for Type; six of the top 16 Cheese Merit dollar value sires, including the top four Cheese Merit dollar sires in the breed; and seven sires among the top 20 bulls for Net Merit dollar value.
236JE146 ISDK DJ ZUMA continues to lead the breed for Net Merit dollar value at +$601 NM and Cheese Merit dollar value at +$716 CM. ZUMA ranks second in the breed for GJPI at +202. Fellow Danish Jersey 236JE3 ISDK Q IMPULS follows directly behind ZUMA, ranking third for GJPI at +189. IMPULS also exhibits breed-leading Net Merit dollar value and Cheese Merit dollar value (+$487 NM and +$590 CM) and solid components.
Additionally ranked among the top 10 for JPI are 7JE1100 Cave Creek KANOO-ET (No. 5) and 7JE1000 Richies Jace TBONE A364 (No. 7). 7BS779 Brothers Three PARKER ET continues his reign as the No. 1 type bull in the breed. This Showcase Selections™ sire defines Type at +1.0 PTAT, offers tremendous Udder Composite (+1.04 UDC) and sired three All American nominations for 2010. Another Showcase Selections sire, 7BS766 Blessing Banker AGENDA ET (+0.7 PTAT) continued his tanbark success with five All American nominations and is an excellent choice to improve feet and legs (+0.91 Feet and Leg Composite, FLC).

7AY84 Palmyra Tri-Star BURDETTE-ET ranks first in the Ayrshire breed for Type (+1.8 PTAT) and second for PTI (+519). BURDETTE improves longevity (+4.9 PL), daughter fertility (+1.6 DPR), Net Merit dollar value (+$437 NM) and adds milk (+521 Milk) to his daughters.
