40 New Excellent Sires at Select Sires
PLAIN CITY, Ohio, November 16, 2009 — Select Sires had an outstanding classification day on Friday, November 13 with a total of 40 new Excellent sires at the end of the day. The highlight of the day was the parading of 7HO5708 Fustead Emory BLITZ-ET. At 13 years and eight months of age, BLITZ looked amazing and the classifier nominated him to committee for a score of Excellent (96).
A living legend, BLITZ recently achieved a career milestone by producing and selling more than 1.5 million units of semen. This Gold Medal sire is the special kind of bull that transmits traits that never go out of style. BLITZ continues to rank among Select's top-10 lineup sires at +2,231 Milk, and he holds the No. 1 spot for Milk in Canada. Not only a superior production sire, his +2.26 Type makes daughters who have achieved success classification day and on the tanbark for their owners.
First-Time Excellent Sires
Another highlight of the day was 7HO8778 Morningview ALLSTAR-ET, who achieved Excellent (92) on his first score. New to the Select Sires lineup in August, this Titanic son is a solid milk sire at +1,563 with low Somatic Cell Score (SCS) at 2.57. With +2.95T, ALLSTAR daughters have the combination of impressive udders and solid feet and legs at +2.83 Udder Composite (UDC) and +2.55 Foot and Leg Composite (FLC). And with the Calving Ease and Superior Settler™ designations, ALLSTAR's +1809GTPI makes him a perfect fit for any mating program.
Also earning Excellent status for the first time was 7HO8221 Golden-Oaks St ALEXANDER-ET, now scored Excellent (90). With extreme Type at +3.27 and solid production with +1,351M, +.15 percent Fat and +90 Fat, ALEXANDER has been in high demand since his debut on the active lineup. And for those heifer pens, he's now available with gender SELECTed semen.
More Lineup Sires Raised in Score
An August graduate with the FeedPRO™ designation, 7HO8747 End-Road O-Man BRONCO-ET was raised in score one point to Excellent (93). This 7HO6417 O MAN son leapt onto the lineup ranking fifth in the breed for GTPI at +2072. His production proof is outstanding with +2,020M, +71F and +64 Protein.
