Select Sires Finishes 1999
With Over 6 Million Units Sold

PLAIN CITY, OHIO, USA - Year end sales figures are in and Select Sires has reached a new high. In 1999 the farmer-owned and controlled A.I. cooperative surpassed 6 million units of semen sold. The domestic and international combined figure has been climbing steadily through the last decade.

"More and more dairy and beef producers, both in the USA and abroad, are turning to Select Sires for their genetic needs," comments Bill Thompson, Vice President of Marketing and Development. "Increasing sales year after year in a market of declining cow numbers is quite a feat. It is proof of our customers’ satisfaction with our people, products and service."

Select’s ‘complete cow’ philosophy focuses on what producers are looking for: productive females that last and contribute positively to subsequent generations. Obviously, their customers in the USA and around the world whose purchases set last year’s high water sales mark agree that they’re on the right track. Thompson lauds, "Select is successful because our domestic member organizations make us strong. In turn, that allows us to judiciously pursue opportunities in the international market. It also makes our entire business more efficient and our prices more reasonable."

"It is an exciting time in the A.I. industry as the winds of change start to blow," leads Select’s General Manager, Dave Thorbahn. "With our outstanding personnel and the successes of 1999, the Select Sires family can look toward the future with great anticipation and excitement."
