New Resource for Finding A.I.-Bred Beef Heifers

PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Oct. 25, 2000 - Producers now can tap into a new resource when searching for beef heifers that are bred to calve in Spring 2001. Select Sires has added a special section to its Web site - http://www.selectsires.com/beef/heifers.aspx - that features groups of heifers that are bred with an A.I. service, pregnancy tested and available for purchase directly from the breeders.

"This new section of Select's Web site is intended to offer a convenient tool for beef producers to locate heifers carrying A.I.-sired calves," says Roy Wallace, vice president of beef programs, Select Sires. "Leading producers have long recognized the genetic edge they can gain by working with A.I.-sired calves, and we are pleased to offer this Web page as a clearinghouse for people looking to buy A.I.-bred heifers."

Current listings include groups of A.I.-bred heifers ranging in size from 50 to more than 500 head, from operations throughout the United States. The service sires include 7AN178 BAR Ext 205, 7AN100 Traveler, 7AN129 Sleep Easy, 7AN154 2RT2, 7AN163 Brooks Dividend and 7AN140 SE Bando 111. Most of the heifers are due from late February through May. Producers can find specific information about the herd-health background of the heifer groups and how to contact the owners in this Web site listing.

Select Sires is a federation of 10 farmer-owned and controlled cooperatives, serving the largest number of cooperative members in the United States. It provides excellence in sires, service and programs to achieve its basic objective of supplying livestock breeders with America's best genetics at a reasonable price.
