New Jersey and Brown Swiss Sires Strengthen A.I. Industry's Leading High-Protein Lineup
PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Nov. 15, 2000 - The Jersey breed's
new No. 1 sire for Production-Type Index (PTI),
9JE173 Barbs MBSM COSMO-ET, is one of three individuals
Select Sires has added to its comprehensive lineup for
high-protein breeds. This follows the fall quarterly
publishing of dairy sire evaluations by the U.S. Department
of Agriculture, InterBull and the breed associations. With
these additions, Select's 10 member cooperatives are now
marketing semen from a total of 38 sires in the Ayrshire,
Brown Swiss, Guernsey and Jersey breeds.
"Select Sires has remained committed to providing superior
genetics to breeders who work with these high-protein breeds,"
says Blaine Crosser, vice president, dairy sire product line,
Select Sires. "This commitment is demonstrated through the
quantity and quality of the bulls with highly reliable proofs
in our lineup today. It also is shown in Select's ongoing
young-sire development program, which samples the industry's
largest total of 50 bulls from high-protein breeds annually."
