World-Wide Sires, Inc. Dominates 2000 All American Jersey Show

Visalia, CA, November 2000 - Showcasing the best Jersey genetics, the world-over, is the All American Show held November 6, 2000 in conjunction with the North American Livestock Exposition (NAILE), Louisville, KY, USA.

As the final placings and award presentations were made, the dominance World-Wide Sires had on the 2000 event was obvious. According to NAILE officials, 36 of the top 80 cows were offspring of 16 bulls available through World-Wide Sires (WWS). This translates to 45% of the show being controlled by the international marketing agent. That's better than any other genetic marketing organization in the world! To qualify this, the figures reflect the top ten placings in the eight milking female classes.

Taking top prize at the 2000 All American Jersey Show was Silver Stream Duncan Peg, EX-93. Sired by 7J177 Highland Magic Duncan, one of the most recognized Jersey sires in history. Peg used her extreme dairy frame, depth of both fore and rear rib, and spectacular width of rear udder to secure the top spot in the Aged Cow competition, and capture the highest honor of the show. She is owned by Shannon Lourenzo, Tillamook, OR.

Following her in class, as well as in the championship line was WF Barber Shasta, EX-95, owned by Waverly Farm, Clearbrook, VA. Sired by the Premier Sire of the 1999 & 2000 Show, 7J290 WF/L&M Duncan Barber, Shasta is no stranger to the showring, as she was Reserve Champion of the 1997 All American and won the Aged Cow class in 1999. With a high lactation record of 6-9 305 22,900 4.6 1,047 3.8 866, this Barber daughter like many of her paternal sisters is excelling on the tanbark and in the milk pail. WF Barber Shasta makes it easy to see why 7J290 is currently the customer satisfaction bull of the Jersey breed.

A 7J254 Mason Boomer Sooner Berretta daughter was crowned champion of the 2000 National Jersey Jug Futurity for 3 Year Old Cows, as well as the Premier Performance Cow of the 2000 All American. Sunset Canyon MBSB Anthem, VG-89, is owned in syndicate with Sunset Canyon, Nathan Jensen, and Dustin Schirm, Beaver, OR. With the best udder of the Jersey Jug, it was an effortless win for the 7J254 Berretta daughter. More significantly, however, was her ability to conquer the Premier Performance portion of the entire show. The performance competition is based one-third on individual class placing, one-third on Productive Transmitting Ability (PTI), and the final third on production yield deviation. As a daughter of the same sire that has given the Jersey breed the milk, fat, and protein record holders, it is not surprising that a 7J254 Berretta daughter be named as the Premier Performance winner.

Another 7J290 WF/L&M Duncan Barber daughter captured the spotlight of the show as the Reserve Intermediate Champion. Williams Impressive Idea-ET, VG-89, owned by the Gold Dust Syndicate, Chester, SC, was the second prize Senior 2 Year Old of the show. With her abundant openness of rib, and breathtaking rear udder height, width and cleft the young cow attracted many admirers.

Other significant accomplishments in the show were that the top seven Milking Senior Yearlings were sired by three different bulls available at World-Wide Sires: 7J356 Lester Sambo, 7J254 Mason Boomer Sooner Berretta, 7J290 WF/L&M Duncan Barber.

The daughters of 9J161 Kongo, 9J142 Driver, 14J280 3M, 7J208 Saint John, and 7J337 Bogart, remind us how influential and important young sire sampling through progeny testing is. While these bulls did not become active AI sires, they were sampled through WWS' cooperators, and their daughters reflect the genetic power of young sires. The only way to find the next breed-leading, show-stopping sires like: 7J177 Duncan , 7J159 Sooner, 7J254 Berretta, 7J290 Barber, 7J321 DC, 7J207 Hermitage, 14J218 Mister T, 7J284 Select, 7J329 Centurion, 7J356 Sambo, and 7J442 Paramount is to be committed to the promotion of the breed by progeny testing young sires.

The All American Open Show was officiated by Ted DeMent, Kenney, IL. DeMent's associate was Ray Ropp, Normal, IL. Judging the Jersey Jug Futurity was Herby D. Lutz, Chester, SC, and his associate Ron Rider, Upton, KY.
