STORM Son from Excellent Maternal Pedigree Enters A.I.
PLAIN CITY, Ohio, April 16, 2001
— 7HO6753 CANYON-Breeze Storm Atom-ET, bred by Steven Gillins, Minersville, Utah, has been chosen to enter Select Sires' Program for Genetic Advancement (PGA) sire-sampling system. Based on his outstanding pedigree, CANYON is one of 315 Holstein bulls from throughout the United States to enter the program in 2001. In addition to being sampled through PGA Cooperator herds, this young sire has been identified as a Super Sampler. With this designation, his semen is available to all interested Holstein breeders.
CANYON is bred to sire the type of cows that will stay in the herd for several lactations. He is the result of crossing the Canadian type and udder specialist Maughlin STORM-ET*TL on one of the highest-scoring daughters of 7HO3948 MJR Blackstart EMORY-ET*TL. Canyon-Breeze EM Ashley-ET is Excellent (94). The next dam, a To-Mar WISTER-ET daughter, is Excellent (93) and the third dam is an Excellent (91) 7HO980 Walkway Chief MARK*TL with lifetime credentials of 205,659 pounds of milk. All three generations are high producing cows with great-udders and numerous records in excess of 35,000 pounds of milk. This is a custom-made pedigree for frame, capacity, longevity and performance.
Based in Plain City, Ohio, Select Sires Inc. is a federation of 10 farmer-owned and controlled cooperatives. It provides highly fertile semen as well as excellence in service and programs to achieve its basic objective of supplying livestock breeders with America's best genetics at a reasonable price.
