First Chime Son in A.I. Sampling


PLAIN CITY, Ohio, April 16, 2001 — 7BS759 Front Line Chime BURL OCS, a young Brown Swiss sire bred by H.E. Heindel and Sons, Brogue, Pa., has been chosen to enter Select Sires' Program for Genetic Advancement (PGA) sire sampling system. Based on his outstanding pedigree, BURL is one of eight Brown Swiss bulls from throughout the United States to enter the program in 2001. In addition to being sampled through PGA Cooperator herds, this young sire has been identified as a Super Sampler. With this designation, his semen is available to all interested Brown Swiss breeders.

BURL is the first son of 7BS715 Rolling View Jetway CHIME ET to be A.I.-sampled in the U.S. CHIME is one of the Brown Swiss breed's highest 20 Production-Type Index (PTI) sires and is ranked among the breed's top10 for Predicted Transmitting Ability for Fat (PTAF) at +62 on the February 2001 U.S. Department of Agriculture genetic evaluations.

On the maternal side, BURL's pedigree is anchored by Top Acres Prophet Bloom (EX-90), one of the matriarchs for both type and production in the Brown Swiss breed. She produced over 33,000 pounds of milk, 1,400 pounds of fat and 1,150 pounds of protein at both 2 and 3 years of age. Her daughter, Top Acres Even Bounty ET (the dam of BURL), is also Excellent (90) with a 2-02 record of 26,930 pounds of milk, 5.1% butterfat test, 1,362 pounds of fat, 3.7% protein test and 991 pounds of protein in 365 days. Other members of this cow family are also recognized aroung the world for superior production, high components, elite conformation scores and breeding-leading performance indexes.
