Red Factor Sire from New York Enters A.I.-Sampling


PLAIN CITY, Ohio, July 6, 2001 — 7HO6826 Ridle-Side Rubens GERRY-ET*RC, a young sire bred by Gregory C. Schantz, Lowville, N.Y., has been chosen to enter Select Sires’ Program for Genetic Advancement (PGA) sire-sampling system. Based on his outstanding pedigree, GERRY*RC is one of 315 Holstein bulls to enter the program in 2001. In addition to being sampled through PGA Cooperator herds, this young sire has been identified as a Super Sampler. With this designation, his semen is available to all Holstein breeders.

GERRY*RC is one of the highest Parent Average (PA) Red Factor young sires for Type-Production Index (TPITM) to be available in the United States. His sire, STBVQ RUBENS-ET*TL*RC, is also one of the most-respected proven Red Factor sires in the breed. On the maternal side, GERRY writes a pedigree noted for high components and sound udders. His dam is Ridle-Side Bellwood 227-ET*RC, a Very Good (86) Maizefield BELLWOOD-ET*TL daughter with 4.3% fat test and 3.2% protein test. The next dam is a Very Good (87) Star-Brook JASMAN-RED daughter that produced 31,180 pounds of milk with 4.4% fat test and 3.3% protein test.
