Three CONVINCER Sons Bred in Wisconsin Enter A.I.
PLAIN CITY, Ohio, July 6, 2001 — Three Wa-Del CONVINCER sons from herds in
Wisconsin have been chosen to enter Select Sires’ Program for Genetic
Advancement (PGA) sire-sampling system. Based on their outstanding
pedigrees, 7HO6726 Jeffrey-Way TRELLIS-ET, bred by Jeffrey and Kate
Hendrickson, Belleville, Wis., 7HO6805 Emerald-Acr-SA TERRIFIC-ET, bred by
Emerald Acres and Scott Armbrust, DePere, Wis., and 7HO6849 Sandy-Valley
ROCKER-ET*TL, bred by David, Patrick, Frank, Jr. and Gregory Bauer,
Scandinavia, Wis., are three of 315 Holstein bulls chosen from throughout
the United States to enter the program in 2001. In addition to being sampled
through PGA Cooperator herds, these young sires have been identified as
Super Samplers. With this designation, their semen is available to all
Holstein breeders.
On the maternal side, TRELLIS comes from two generations of Select Sires
breeding. His dam, Jeffrey-Way Hunter Teardrop (VG-88), is a high testing,
2-year-old daughter of 7HO3847 Ameldin II Pontiac HUNTER*TL, 2-9 365d
37,770M 1,420F 1,154P. The grandam is an Excellent (91) daughter of 7HO980
Walkway Chief MARK*TL with four records more than 32,000 pounds of milk and
lifetime milk production credits of 219,660 pounds of milk.
TERRIFIC’s dam Emerald-Acr-SA Tulip-ET (EX-94), 4-year-old daughter of
Rothrock Tradition LEADMAN*TL with 41,203 pounds of milk, 1,651 pounds of
fat and 1,455 pounds of protein.
ROCKER’s grandam is Ricecrest Southwind Kaye-ET, the matriarch of the
world-renowned Ricecrest breeding program in Pennsylvania. His dam is Kaye’s
highest ranking daughter, Ricecrest Bwood Brianne-ET (VG-88) Dam of Merit
with almost 40,000 pounds of milk at 1 year, 11 months of age.
